i have a new instructor, since my first one is moving on to a be a pilot for a charter airline. apparently this is very, very common, and at the rate i'm going (only four lessons in six seven months) i'll probably see many more.

i saw my house from the plane for the first time today - the wind pattern and our flight path just so happened to put us in that direction on the return approach, so the instructor extended the path so that we could do a loop just south of the house. it was pretty awesome to get that view, and i had been hoping to be able to do that since i started!
