Clay is gay: Aiken comes out of the closet!

NEW YORK - Clay Aiken is finally confirming what many people already knew: He's gay. The cover of the latest People magazine shows Aiken holding his infant son, Parker Foster Aiken, with the headline: "Yes, I'm Gay." The cover also has the quote: "I cannot raise a child to lie or hide things."

The magazine has an interview with Aiken and confirmed that he was on the cover but refused to release the article to The Associated Press until Wednesday.
The baby's mother is Aiken's friend and record producer Jaymes Foster.
Aiken, who gained fame as the runner-up on "American Idol" in 2003, rarely addressed the frequent rumors about his sexuality. In an interview with The Associated Press two years ago, he said: "I don't really feel like I have anybody to answer to but myself and God and the people I love."
The multiplatinum singer recently released the CD "On My Way Here" and made his Broadway debut this spring in "Monty Python's Spamalot."
In other news, scientists confirmed today that the ocean is wet.

Why are these stories still newsworthy? Sure, back in the 70's and 80's it was a brave thing and an "Ohmigod!" moment. At this point, I don't think I would blanche at anyone making the "I'm Gay" announcement. Fuckin' Ozzy Osbourne could come out and say he's been Axl Rose's lover for the past 30 years and I would say "meh". Seriously who gives a fuck? Can you name me one person besides Gene Simmons or Chuck Norris who would shock the fuck out of you if they came out?

it's only ok for guys to be gay if they die horribly and leave lots of secrets that can be novelised or turned into a made for tv afternoon filler schmaltz fest movie.
or if they appear to be so hyer gay that you can't actually imagine anyone being blind enough to do anything with them of a rather unsavoury nature.
and why are lesbians in reality really fucking ugly and aggressive?

That's not true. I happen to know more than one lesbian that pretty much make every guy around think "Damn. What a waste." Their girlfriends are always über butch though.
