Re: Another new Batman animated TV show
Bullock bends the rules as he sees fit. I don't see why he can't become that guy later, once he subscribes to Gordon's point of view.
I don't think it was implied that Gordon was a new cop, just a new detective, who is adapting to a vastly different style of working.
The Ivy thing doesn't bother me if she's only a very minor character.
Penguin was off-kilter the entire episode. Losing everything he had made him lose his shit, not a dip in the river. His boss disowned him and tried to have him killed. That might set a lot of borderline bad guys off.
The stand-up comedian was one of several possible Jokers in the show. They want to keep his origin as ambiguous as the comics.
BTW, the dancers in the background when Gordon and Bullock visit Fish were wearing a familiar red/black styled ensemble.

Re: Another new Batman animated TV show
I missed the first ten minutes so I didn't see the Wayne murder. Or Selena pickpocket anyone.
At one point Barbara said something about Gordon not wearing the uniform anymore. That intimated he was a patrolman previously.
Oswald was already a bit crazy. He was very gleeful while using the bat on the guy in the alley.
The Riddler stuff was a little too forced. I don't mind him as their CSI guy, but he's already full on obsessed with Riddles. That could've been toned down.
I thought the comedian was a Joker reference also.
There's plenty of time to introduce Dr. Thompkins in the series. It's not a sprint.

I read spoilers on the latest episode. I understand George Lucas called them up and said, "Dude, I know you like the completely pointless cameo appearances that are so ridiculously coincidental that they make the audience's heads hurt, but you've got to be more subtle with them."

My kids like Teen Titans Go!
I thought I hated it, but watched a few episodes with them.
Holy shit, this show is hysterical. Just don't expect any continuity, or anything related to any other version of the characters. It's just a mix of slapstick nonsense and clever spoofing of DC Comics and pop culture in general.
One episode is entirely the team in old video games kids wouldn't recognize (Zelda, Spy Hunter, Frogger). Another spoofs the various Robins. And another is one of the best slams on the Wonder Twins ever.
Trust me. Watch it with an open mind.

Okay, I keep hearing good, or at least "it's pretty decent" things about the Flash show. Any of you watched it? I have to admit, I respect using the actors from the original (horribly underrated and prematurely canceled) series.

Flash is really good. DC is rocking the small screen as well as they are sucking on the big screen.
It's like polar opposites.

Arrow is pretty good. Going to start season 3 and season 1 of Flash soon.
Flash is actually doing Gorilla Grodd.

Thanks. I'll check 'em out. Or at least add them to my massive list of things to catch up on.
BTW, Webster and Pointer Sisters references on Teen Titans Go today. Asked the kids, and they figured it was stuff Cyborg made up or that only existed in the world of the show. Blew their minds showing them evidence to the contrary.

Re: Another new Batman animated TV show
A six minute trailer for the new Supergirl show on the internet today. Basically, you watched the entire pilot condensed down into six minutes.
It's a bit schmaltzy throughout and I don't know if CBS is the right network so I won't be surprised if this doesn't make it past season 1.
I'll forgive TV budget special effects if they made more superhero shows instead of a movie every three years.
Even though this is from the same guys that make Arrow and Flash, it's not connected to them which I feel is a mistake. A mistake NBC already made with Constantine.
Also, the show looks to heavily rely on the mythos of Superman without actually having Superman on the show. And considering DC has a film version of Supes that's not connected to this at all that's just confusing for viewers who've grown accustomed to Marvel's interconnectivity in their film and TV shows.
I'm rooting for the show to be a success, but sadly I don't think it will be.

Re: Another new Batman animated TV show
I just hate Supergirl.
DC has hardly any female characters who aren't essentially their male characters with tits. Fire, Ice, Starfire, Raven, Black Canary, Vixen--that might be it, and none are exactly household names. And all of them are "we don't exist outside our teams" characters. Wonder Woman is awful and it has nothing to do with gender.
But slap tits on male characters to get the unnecessary Supergirl, Power Girl, Batgirl, Batwoman, etc, etc.

Warning: Clicking this link could piss you off.
Why? Because Batman: Gotham Crusaders is not a real animated series. It is 100% fan art that looks like artwork for a proposed series.
Six seasons of the main revolving cast, which leads to speculation of the possible storylines the series would be tackling.

Re: Another new Batman animated TV show
Wanna hear my guess as to Zoom's identity in season 2 of Flash?
It's either Earth-2 Henry Allen or even better The Flash from the 90s series gone completely evil. Either way it's the same actor.
How fuckin' cool was the King Shark cameo?

The Justice League/Darkseid episode of TTG! is fucking amazing.
And not just for Cyborg using a GL ring to create an unexpected team of allies.

Re: Another new Batman animated TV show
It's always fun to see Mark Hamill's Trickster because it's basically the live action Version of the TAS Joker.
It was great seeing Constantine on Arrow. That guy was perfectly cast so it's great he gets a chance to keep playing the part, even as an occasional guest star.
They're getting a lot of mileage out of the King Shark footage. They use it in the "previously on" recap stuff every week.
The Flash/Arrow crossover that introduced Hawkman and Hawkgirl was pretty cool. They are stuffing all kinds of heroes into these shows.
I haven't caught up with Supergirl, but I heard they dropped J'onn J'onzz in. If that ever gets cancelled, hopefully they fold those characters over into the Arrow/Flash verse also.
