I will be in California July 12-20, 2005
Reposting the dates for my trip as per my thread before the implosion.
Would like to hook up with any of you guys for awhile in San Diego if you're going (and from what I recall, Chux and EP will be there as well). I think it would be a lot more fun to go as a group (especially for me, as I don't know anyone else down there). So hook me up, ye bastards.
I will likely be staying over one night in SD. If there's an SSG Party planned, I'd like to make it that night. That being said, I don't think I'm going to drop for a 4 day pass. I've emailed CGC about getting my X-Men #1 graded after being signed by Stan, but haven't heard back yet, so I don't know if that's a pipe dream or what.
My itinerary is pretty flexible. Let me know what will work for you guys.

I thought Snigtad was from Pennsylvania, with all the references to Lancaster. Of course, there's a Lancaster in just about every state. It's like Springfield.
Any more concrete plans yet, JJ? I'm sending off my registration today to get the cheaper rate. I'm going for all four days--I discovered this is a HUGE convention and two days was barely enough time to get all the exclusive toys I wanted. I'm planning on heading down on the 13th sometime and staying at my sister-in-law's. (My wife's working summer school and it's impossible to get days off, so she'll be down later on the 14th or 15th.) It's up in northern San Diego (the Con's about as far south as you can get and still be in the US), but it looked like the public transportation there was pretty good. I know the parking is a pain in the ass at the convention center.

Good call, I'll have a vehicle but might wind up finding a place a ways off to park then bussing in. I still don't know which night to spend in SD, once CIII gets dealt with I'm sure they'll start planning something for that show. I know for sure that I won't get to see all 4 days - Jodi just won't go for that on a 10 day trip - so I'll have to be pretty quick about seeing everything. The big hope was getting a few books submitted for grading, but I'm not sure I want to waste all that time standing in lines. There's got to be millions of $1 bins and stuff that I'd be much better off pawing through. Should be quite the eye opener, I've only ever been to one comic show (Toronto, it was a good one) but I didn't spend much money. Most of the good stuff was priced so over the top, it was scary.

I used to go to the Heroes Con in Charlotte (NC)every year, which is the biggest show in the Southeast. It would take at least a couple of days worth to do everything. Comic Con dwarfs that by a mile.
If you're not registered now, I'd recommend finding out (probably within the next couple of weeks) if there's a SW event planned. In any case, it's probably cheaper to reserve a four-day ticket than to buy two days, especially if one of the days is Saturday.

I doubt SSG has anything planned (booth-wise, I mean), as they haven't in the past that I'm aware of. I saw some SSG shirts in the crowd last year and I know Tycho was there (I've met him before). (Honestly, I didn't much care for the shirts, but don't spread that around.)
For "SW event," I meant something huge, like the giant presentation where we only knew it was put on by Lucasfilm and would show some E3 design stuff, and unexpectedly got the revelation of the title, the announcement of the Ewok and Clone Wars DVDs, the announcement of Season 3 of Clone Wars, and a surprise Q&A with Rick (who seems a lot more normal in person) and (quite unexpectedly) Hayden.
If this year they do something like that, I suspect that (with nothing more ROTS left to reveal) we'll get some real info about the rumored TV show.
Although they may look like huge time consumers (and, well, they are), I'd recommend checking out any presentations that sound interesting. I only had time for the SW, a preview of The Incredibles (with the Hitchhiker's Guide teaser thrown in as a surprise bonus), and a Q&A forum with Hasbro's Star Wars design team (who don't deserve the flak that should go toward upper management and marketing), and they were all well worth the time. I understand something related to the TF movie is rumored for this year. Even if it's a ten-second clip of a live-action Optimus transforming, that'll be worth the price for the weekend.
SW had a gigantonormous booth (if you can call an area the size of a large apartment a "booth") last year, and I expect will again.
