Football
Its on TV, so I'm putting in here. I'm sure John Madden will approve.
My Superbowl prediction: Tom Petty plays 3 songs. One of which is "Running Down a Dream"
My boss has been listening to the sports radio lately. This morning he asked me the topic this week was, not counting this season, what was the greatest football team ever. I'm sure he screwed up the choices, so I'm posting what I think they were:
'62(?) Packers
'72 Dolphins
'78 Steelers (Steel Curtain)
early 80s 49ers (Joe Montana)
'85 Bears
He said of the poll, the Bears won with 40% of the vote. He didn't seem to think that was right, but I figure they won because it was the most recent and Chicago fans probably stuffed the ballot box. (you know how interet polls are). I'd probably go with the Steelers or 49ers.

Re: Football
hey! a topic i might be able to chime in on once!
yeah, i remember when i was a wee lad that the 49ers or the bengals were like, the dominant teams. i can't remember a superbowl from that era that didn't have one or the both of them in it.

Life is short. STUNT IT!
Re: Football
Not quite yet. They still have to secure a Superbowl win, which I'm sure they will. Eli Manning's gonna choke. I just wish the Packers had beat them so Brett Favre could have gone to the Superbowl again.Sleazer wrote:2007 Boston Patriots
The '85 Bears only won the poll because of two reasons:
1. http://youtube.com/watch?v=fJNC3dgreaU
2.

Good. Bad. I'm the guy with the gun.

I knew what that video would be before I clicked it, and, God help me, I did it anyway.
I wonder if that's what inspired Shaq to rap?

Re: Football
The Patriots are the single greatest dynasty the NFL has ever known. 70's Steelers be damned - this group is incredible. Even if they don't win (which they will, by 11 points), it's the best team to ever run on a football field. I think they could DOMINATE a Pro-Bowl team that got to practice together for a month, that's how much love they gots for each other - and for Bill Belichek.

don't forget the word "undefeated" between "of" and "cocksucking"

Re: Football
No, seemed staged though?
"Once there were brook trout in the streams in the mountains. You could see them standing in the amber current where the white edges of their fins wimpled softly in the flow. They smelled of moss in your hand. Polished and muscular and torsional. On their backs were vermiculate patterns that were maps of the world in its becoming. Maps and mazes. Of a thing which could not be put back. Not be made right again. In the deep glens where they lived all things were older than man and they hummed of mystery."
Re: Football
That was all over the blogosphere today but that was the first time I got to watch it. Thanks, RII, because I'd've forgotten about it by tomorrow!

Re: Football
I've just received a hot tip from a reliable source (from the future).
Edit: Suck it Tom Brady.
Place your bets! The Giants ended up winning 35-27. It was a good game. Poor Plaxico was pretty off on his prediction though. In case you care, the commercials suck more than Slicker's mom.
