How I realized I was over Star Wars completely

movies are cool. here is a place to talk about how cool they are. or maybe how much they suck, sometimes. like that fucking piece of shit 'mac and me'. worst fucking movie ever, a two-hour ad for fucking coca-cola.

We only saw TIEs fly in space in the OT. That doesn't mean they couldn't fly in an atmosphere.

IIRC, the twin ion engines of the TIEs were based on a type of engine that was theoretical in the 1970s and believed to be far more likely possible now... but that, like Ran said, only works in vacuum.

And please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the background of the shot with the Testiclebot (this term is now trademarked and anyone who uses it owes me a dollar) exactly the same background of the shot of ANH:SE where the ASP droid beats down the small probe droid?

When I search ASP Star Wars all I got was this shot, which has a Rebel-looking pickle cruiser parked behind.

Where'd they say any of that in the OT?

Actually we saw TIE fighters in atmospheric flight in ESB chasing the falcon as it escapes from cloud city. but I wasn't saying they couldn't do atmospheric flight, I was saying they couldn't do low altitude flight as they aren't manoeuvrable enough. look at any shot of them flying and you'll notice their turning circle is a long arc. stick them in a low altitude dogfight and they'd just crash. They'd probably shake apart given those huge flat solar panel wings. Even with dampeners the wind shear would tear those suckers apart. There's just way too much that makes no sense and is just plain wrong. Like the falcon having no downward or upward thrusters or side directional ones. Just a honking great rear one. There's no way repulsorlift could work on a ship of that size. It just couldn't attain flight. stupid lazy design work.
I have never read any of your posts, but from what I can learn I should say that for people who like the kind of posts you deliver, they are just the kind of posts such people like.

We don't see them maneuvering in a dog fight. They just strafe past the Falcon in a straight line.

I guess I was excited about the Falcon a little bit, seeing the new radar array or whatever you'd call it was fun. The twisty turny following cam was too eerily similar to Obi & Ani dropping into the battle to start EPIII though, and the young girl on the speeder could have passed for Padme based on the quick flash we got. I was honestly hoping for exactly NOTHING to remind me of the PT - and on that tip I was a bit let down. It felt more PT than OT.

When he turns around, there is a black dot in the middle of his back. It reminded me of the hole for backpacks on Sandtroopers and GI Joe figures.

Os the ball droid new, or based on an early McQuarrie design for Artoo?

This made me laugh far more than that overly predictable lens flare version.

This was the top story on Yahoo this morning. 'Star Wars' Star John Boyega to Haters: "Get Used to It"

Of all the things in the trailer, people are upset over the guy in the stormtrooper gear?

I am continually shocked and at the same time not surprised at all at how many racists pop up diglett-style when this stuff happens. And then they invariably say "I'm not racist, BUT..." And then proceed to say what boils down to 'I hate black people in my *Star Wars!!'
