Eternal Padawan wrote:Ant-Man. I never buy this, but it's a World War Hulk crossover. And I don't think I would normally ever get it anyway, but it did have a recap ant on the first page which I thought was hilarious, especially when it got interrupted by a bigger, greener Hulk recap ant. I like random funny stuff like that.
ant-man has been freakin' hysterical... another great book by robert kirkman. too bad it's being axed with issue 12. there's a digest version (not full-sized TPB) reprinting everything so far i believe coming this month... kirkman keeps saying that sales of the digest will save the book, so if you want more, buy the digest and help a brother out who's been on the monthlies since day one! (me)
And one final note. I read in ComicShopNews that they are doing away with Sensational Spidey and Friendly Neighborhood Spidey in order to make Amazing TRI-MONTHLY. What a fucking scam. It seems the success of certain weekly books over at DC have made Marvel want to try a little experiment of their own.
which you would've known a few weeks ago if you listened to me and visited WallCrawlersweb.com

Punisher #49 - That bitch was totally fucked in the head. But...after the initial shock of the sex scene I couldn't help but hear Gil Hicks asking Brodie, "Well, did he come or what?" Can't wait for Punisher #50 next month.

Barracuda #5 - a total 180 from Ennis, but still really fucked up. Damn I want this to be a movie so bad, just to see Christopher Walken as Chris Angelone. Wanda getting shot through the tits was only topped by what happend to Hemo. As I said, can't wait for Punisher #50 next month.

AS Superman #8 - This is only 12 issues right? This shit is as bad as Wolverine Origins has gotten. AS Batman rules. AS Superman sucks.

I've yet to see why people think AS Supes (I should really shorten it to ASS) is so great. I keep reading hoping that I'll understand why its so "good" or that it will get better for me.

Oh yeah...I forgot to mention it is as bad as Punisher War Journal.

AS Supermen is like a throwback to the vintage wacky "Earth-1" Superman adventures from the 50's and 60's. It's campy, but classic and dead on. Thats why I like it so much. And I got that from the first issue, so I knew what was coming. I can see if your aren't into that kinda thing, it wouldnt be as great.

But, Sir, ANYTHING Morrison writes is better than PWJ and Wolverine:origins. Shame on you for making the comparison...

What I got yesterday.

New Avengers. Mostly talking issue where the ramifications of Skrelektra are discussed. Peter's "I'm not a skrull." and Wolverine's retort were funny as hell. And the other best part is the MARVEL TOYS two page ad where you can buy Savage Dragon, Judge Dredd, Madman, Withcblade, etc and a BAF PITT or Darkness, Sin City Marv, etc to get a BAF Monkeyman to go with your O'Brien figure. Way to stick it to Hasbro!!!

Exiles. Yucky. Damn you Clarement, you shitty fuck.

Green Lantern. Holy shitballs. Along with the Sinestro Corps One Shot, this has got to be the coolest comic book going right now, in terms of huge continuity comic book storytelling. Sinestro, Cyborg Superman, Kyle Rayner as the new Parralax, and Superboy-Prime(the evil one) as an anti-Green Lantern Corps. Highly recommend this.

JSA. Meh. A cool cover. Coming down off the big crossover with JLA is tough to get back on track and I just don't care about Citizen Steel very much.

WWH: Gamma Corps. Didn't read it. Seems like a tie-in book for $$ sake.

Nova. Ha ha. Marvel you scamps. Bring back Richard Rider in his own series after how many years and then crispy fry him by the fourth issue? I tip my hat to you, sirrah.

Sub-Mariner. Namor continues to talk tough and be all "Imperius Rex" trying to solve an Atlantean terrorist plot on US Soil.

PWJ. Dammit. I try to stop myself and this just worms its way into my pile every month. Now hes photoshopping grass and dirt into the backgrounds. This book sucks. What am I doing?

X-Factor. I got this because of the Endangered Species backup story, but the regular book ( which I normally don't get) was pretty good.

What did I miss? When did Kyle become Parallax and a bad guy?

I don't know, maybe there is crack in the ink because I keep doing it too.

There must be some crack in Star Wars: Legacy also, because I bought that shit paper too.

Week of 7/18/07

Avengers Initiative. WWH crossover. Still don't care about a bunch of superhero trainees, but the "back ops" team with Constrictor, Bengal ( hooray!) and a bunch of Iron Spideys looks intriguing. Not enough to buy the book, but still..

Captain America. Its a testament to the writing on this book, that even with the titular character being DEAD this book is still better than 90% of whats out there.

ALL Flash. Interim issue between Bart's final issue and Wally's retro renumbering 231. Sets up Wally and his former infant twins, now almost pubescent and apparently super powered.

FN Spidey. Two issues to go before this gets canned and Amazing goes Tri-monthly. Spidey's still a little too "quippy' considering whats going on in the other books, but I guess quippy is Peter Davids forte. Concludes the loose ends of the exremental "The Other" storyline by having Peter feed his Spider-nemesis to the birds. Literally.

Ghost Rider. WWH crossover. Whan powerhouses like Hulk and GR tussle, I say "Oh shit!" and giggle alot because comics are fucking cool. Like the two page spread of hell fireball encompassing blocks of Manhattan.

WWH X-Men. Part II of Hulk basically kicking X-Men ass. Even the JUGGERNAUT goes down in less than a page. Good, fun stuff.

WWH Frontline. Meh. Alright, but not really neccassary.

World War Hulk. Damn. If Blackbolt and Iron Man getting beat last issue wasn't cool enough. This time the rest of the heroes including the Fantastic Four get "Hulk Smashed". This is pretty big story unfolding and it rocks. Next up Thunderbolt Ross and basically the ENTIRE US Military have a go, just for old times sake. Rock.

JLA. A pretty good story focusing of Red Arrow and Vixen. I will be sad to see Metzer go next issue. He writes well. At least Benes is sticking around for awhile, and McDuffie writes pretty epic stuff, so i'll stick around for awhile.

New X-Men. This book keeps getting better. You would think dredging up Belasco, Sym, N'astihr, and Darkchylde from Limbo would solicit groans, but the story is pretty good. People need to stop thinking of this book as an ancilliary title and realize these are the Future X-Men. The art is a little cartoony for my tastes, but not bad.

Thunderbolts. HA HA. Americop?? Seriously?? I don't get why this had to be a stand alone one shot, but whatever. Bullseye discussing killing people with golf clubs non chalantly creeps me out. Jenkins nailed him perfectly getting all antsy while looking at Norman Osborn's pencil.

Well I got X-Men 200 and N'Avengers 32 to cross 2 off my list of recent misses. That'll be my last issue of X-Men for awhile, and I'm done with Wolverine after this week's issue 55.

This past week I picked up:

Wolverine Origins Annual #1 - More questions with no answers. More of the same crap we get every month in the regular Origins. I liked the art though, even though the guy could learn to lay things out a bit better.

Star Wars: Dark Times #4 - Boring characters from a boring arc introduced in the final issues of Republic. Probably drop this one after this arc, as I need to stop torturing myself with crap (Shape up or you're next Wolverine Origins and Star Wars: Legacy).
