At this point on the list, i just shake my head and realize that there was no criteria to define terms like "Essential" or even "Good" and "Okay".
I would be hard pressed to listen to whatever douche came up with this list's explanations and reasons in between my punching him in the nuts repeatedly.

I'm serious. At this point it looks like they went down a list of Platinum selling albums and said "Oh! People like THAT song! or THAT artist. We should throw it on the list!!" Without doing any kind of rational discussion with other people to get a concensus or anything.

I don't even have the strength to go off on this. The first 50 albums contained mainly great music (that most people will like - and hence agree upon).
These lists are so subjective.... how can anyone even compare OutKast with the Police let alone decide which album should be more "essential"?
The only thing these lists are good for is causing arguments between the creators and everyone else... which is exactly what they've goaded you bag biters into here.

So Queen, Blood on the Tracks, Stevie Ray, STP, Curtis Mayfield, and Bowie are just now finally putting in an appearance?
Will Smith? Avril Lavigne? Shakira? Avril Lavigne? Destiny's Child? Avril Lavigne? Phantom of the Opera? AVRIL LAVIGNE? I believe that Blues Brothers boycotting sonovabitch Diabolical said it best: "Now they're just getting stupid."
Faith, good songs, not a consistent album. The title track is one of the best pop songs of the decade, but not enough to make the album great.
The Score, Texas Flood, Blood on the Tracks, Core, Superfly, A Night at the Opera, and Aqualung should be much higher. Much, much higher.
The closer this gets to the end, the more frustrating it gets.

No Rod Stewart at all.
No Allman Brothers at all.
Aside from one Etta James and one SRV, no blues to speak of.
White Blood Cells over Elephant or Get Behind Me, Satan.
No James Brown at all.
No Ray Charles at all.
Only one Johnny Cash album.
Aside from the early works of Metallica, one GNR, and one Ozzy, no heavy metal to speak of.
No Chuck Berry at all.
Only one Elton John album.
Superunknown is noticably missing.
One Aretha album, which I've never heard of, instead of the really good ones.
No Frank Zappa at all.
No KISS at all.
No Clapton at all (meaning no Cream, Blind Faith, or Derek and the Dominoes, either).
No Otis Redding at all.
And, yet, they found room for the likes of Celine Dion, Avril Lavigne, Eminem, Avril Lavigne, 50 Cent, Avril Lavigne, Usher, Avril Lavigne, Phil Collins, Avril Lavigne, Faith Hill, Avril Lavigne, Linkin Park, Avril Lavigne, Nelly, Avril Lavigne, Creed, Avril Lavigne, Mariah Carey, Avril Lavigne, R Kelly, Avril Lavigne, the Titanic soundtrack, Avril Lavigne, Christina Aguilera, Avril Lavigne, Natalie Cole, Avril Lavigne, Toni Braxton, Avril Lavigne, Will Smith, Avril Lavigne, Destiny's Child, Avril Lavigne, Shakira, Avril Lavigne, Sade, Avril Lavigne, Beyonce, Avril Lavigne, Anita Baker, and did I mention Avril Lavigne?

I feel that Avril should come to my house and apologize. Personally. For each and every time anarky mentioned her name above. And should she do it in such a fashion that doesn't require verbal apology and/or clothes...so much the better.
