Re: What have you watched lately?
The family was out of town for a few days. I was able to rescue the TV from the Modern Family binge and catch some flicks. (Not that Modern Family is bad; far from it. It was just on TV for twelve centuries and it's a lot to take in when you get outvoted on the "let's take a damned break from A...

Re: Celebrity Death Pool!
He was great in Peaky Blinders, too. I've always thought the best acting in the OT is Piett in the couple of seconds right after the Falcon jumps into hyperspace. He knows he's as good as dead, and then Vader ignores him. The expressions on Colley's face are just perfect. Very subtle, but beautiful....

Mystique 4. Mystique is running around hopped up on Fabian Cortez’s mutant enhancing powers, so she can mimic actual mutants while she’s hunting for Destiny who is being held by SHIELD. Meanwhile, Nick Fury is investigating all the places she’s attacked. Until we get to twist where Fury has been. A...

Re: R.I.P. and Thanks for Everything
Not to mention Defiant, which tanked. But not because of the stories. It was the one-two punch of Marvel's legal action draining their resources and the weird trading card zero issue that was a necessary prequel to everything else being way the fuck out of most readers' budgets. But I do give him cr...

I was wondering what happened to the little testicle wrinkle. I guess he got into the gourmet food racket.

Re: What's up with the pathetic remakes of shit
The only way to do these is to get one studio and one mastermind to helm The Stand as two movies, separate movies for 'Salem's Lot and any other tie-in novels you want to include (that one's non-negotiable), an Eyes of the Dragon animated series or movie, and a massive Dark Tower TV series USING THE...

Re: Fuck me, we missed the anniversary
They're actually releasing Blues Brothers 3 as a graphic novel later this year. I'll read it, but have questions about the timeline. Twenty years after the first, but Jake is alive and the brothers are out of jail. (Then again, it's been a while since i saw the second, and I think it may only be hea...

Fuck me, we missed the anniversary
Yesterday, the 5-star album this very forum is named after turned forty years old.
Yes, Dare to Be Stupid is middle aged.
Fuck, we're old.
And who's going to dredge this up in ten years and say, "God shit, we're old. Now give me my meds before I throttle you with my diaper"?

Re: Celebrity Death Pool!
Good Vibrations is the only 100% intact capsule of the SMiLE album that never materialized, because Brian was under pressure to top Pet Sounds, which even then pretty much everyone acknowledged was a masterpiece (at least every musician; critics actually were pretty divided) and, well, it broke him ...

Re: Celebrity Death Pool!
Brian Wilson, 82. Don't know the exact cause of death, but he'd been suffering from dementia.
If there were a rock & roll Mount Rushmore, he'd definitely be on it. I'm going to go spin Surf's Up and Smiley Smile a few times (not that I won't spin Pet Sounds, but that's a given).
