Tom Veitch, 80, also COVID.

The man who gave us a far better "Somehow, Palpatine survived" story than Abrams did.

Neal Adams. 80 years old.

In addition to being a definitive artist, he was also a champion of creator’s rights.

RIP and thank you for all your contributions to comics.
You will be greatly missed.

Marvel Mount Rushmore level of loss with Neal Adams. Very sad but the legacy lives on.

We knew it was inevitable, but still hurts to read the news: George Perez has passed.

Adams and Perez in about a week. Two of the greatest artists to ever draw comics, and both excellent writers as well.

Before I was old enough to perceive that writers and artists were creating the comics I was reading, I was reading the Digest sized reprints of Teen Titans back in grade school. That was my first exposure to Perez’s art. He’s part of the reason Deathstroke is my favorite DC character.

Once I was older and collecting on a regular basis, he became a “name” for me when he was tapped to draw Infinity Gauntlet and then had to step away after the first couple issues because DC had him draw the War of the Gods miniseries. This was marquee headline comics news at the time. The scandal! The drama!

RIP and thanks for everything.

Alan Grant, 73.

2022 is shaping up to be a shitty year for Batman legends. Adams, Perez, Sake, and Grant in less than three months.

Damn. I started reading Batman with Detective 600, so the Grant/Breyfogle team is pretty much my benchmark for Batman. Wofman and Aparo were on Batman, then the two teams swapped books, but those guys were what defined Batman when I got into comics.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Grant. Thank you. For everything.

Danny Bulanadi, inker at Marvel and DC, at age 76. Heart failure.

I remember him doing inks on Keiron Dwyer and Ron Lim’s art on Captain America. He had a hefty run on FF with Paul Ryan as well.

RIP Danny and thanks for everything.

Every time I see the ages on these guys in their 60s and 70s, I think ‘that can’t be right’ then I remember they were drawing stuff 30-40 years ago.

RIP Carlos, and thank you for everything.

Al Jaffee, MAD Magazine’s cartoonist extraordinaire. A solid 102.

RIP Mr Jaffee. Thank you for decades of laughter.

At one point, you were 10 or 11 years old laughing at an Al Jaffee drawn fold-in, at the back of Mad magazine. He has passed away at the grand old age of 102.

Thank you, Al. Mad & Cracked were both tremendous.

John Romita Sr. Made it to 93.

What to say? His body of work and contributions to the foundations of the Marvel U are immeasurable. He’s on the Rushmore of artists.

Rest In Peace Mr. Romita, and thank you for everything.
