Norris Volunteers To Lead Texas Revolution

17 April 2009 5:05 AM, PDT

Martial-arts master Chuck Norris has his sights set on becoming more than a Texas Ranger - he has volunteered to run as the U.S. state's first president.

Norris, who played TV hardman Cordell Walker in hit series Walker, Texas Ranger, has put himself up for the job of running the region after discussing the possibility of the state seceding from U.S. control during a rant on CNN.com's political blog.

The actor, who is a staunch Republican, insists Texans want an independent state after being let down by the American government - and thinks he'd be the ideal candidate to lead the Lone Star state's revolution.

He says, "I may run for president of Texas. That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.

"Anyone who has been around Texas for any length of time knows exactly what we'd do if the going got rough in America."
Hells yeah! I'm moving to Texas.

The death penalty choices will be gas chamber, electric chair, lethal injection, and roundhouse kick.

On a serious note, does the talk of secession from Texas concern anyone else? Seriously, man, I know it's the armpit of the US, but it's getting insane.

I suppose it's like the idiots in Alaska, a very small fringe minority that's getting more attention than it needs, especially when folks who probably have no real intention of secession talk about it in hyperbole.

frankly, no. they've always been the 'lone-star state' and have had a history of secessionist factions. and texas is like the grundle of the US, because new jersey is the armpit.

I don't take it that seriously, even though they were their own country at one point. How long has Quebec been talking about seceeding from Canada? Or the Basque region from Spain and France?

Over the years, I had a lot of friends in the military from Texas They are a patriotic bunch, both on a state and country level. There is a saying that goes "you don't have to ask someone if they are from Texas, they will tell you." I have also been through there several times. It isn't any more of an armpit than any other part of the country. It has its quirks like everywhere else, they are just louder about theirs.

By the way, if you are ever driving down the street and the person in your passenger seat yells "TEXAS STOP SIGN!", don't slam on the brakes. They are refering to a Dairy Queen. Luckily I didn't get rear-ended when it happened to me.

Chuck Norris can kick like a motherfucker, but he is crazy as all hell. Shit, how many of our presidents have been from Texas? These people need to calm the fuck down when they don't agree with the government. I hated Bush, but you know what I did? I voted for Obama and encouraged others to do the same; I didn't secede from the fucking country.

I've been hinting that I would post my infamous "Texas Story" here, and never took the time to type it. I will make sure it's here this weekend. It will freak the shit out of you.
