It's snowing.

It's fucking blizzard conditions outside. It's not cold enough for it to pile up, but a mix of snow and sleet is coming down so fast, it's tough to see. Factor in the heavy winds (which blew over my full trash cans, along with most everyone else's, this morning), and it's fucking insanity. Really. If these SoCal denizens knew what a "blizzard" was (and not the mediocre Dairy Queen dessert), they'd know we're in one.

I'm in the middle of the desert, about 30 miles west of Palm Springs. What the fuck?

This commercial is bullshit. It hasn't been 86 degrees here since way back in October! :)

It snowed here on Monday and is snowing again today. I blame global warming.

you do know that sleet is the term for a mix of rain and snow right? you can't actually have a mix of sleet and snow. it can only be alternating. or one or the other. and it's about time you dirt dwellers had some of the shit we have to put up with. bet your snow is dirty brown too. poop snow.

I've always heard sleet used in reference to frozen rain. I wonder if I'm wrong, or if this is a "hood/bonnet" thing.

wonder if there's a difference in terms for a rain of frogs. a splatter of frogs or a thud of frogs or an explosion of frogs. blustery frogs. freezing frogs. "cloud of frogs heading due east. 14 thousand feet and falling. it's gonna be one hell of a frogstorm".

Last night around 10pm the school district decided that today will be a snow day. It rained a little over night and there is practically no snow on the ground near my house. Other parts of town managed to get up to 8". They are worried about flooding now.

something that grinds my gears is people who buy a house next to a river known to flood regularly and then complain and whinge when their house gets washed away or the house gets flooded or they get stranded in their car as they try to drive through three feet of water to escape. get a fukken boat. buy a house where there's a chance it'll last.
same goes for people who live next to volcanos and areas of rock and mud slide. areas where there are avalanches.
if you insist on living in such places then STFU when disaster strikes. it's your own fault for standing in the direct line of the fukken disaster.

I remember being furious when mount st helens blew and there was some old guy who refused to evacuate and eventually got crushed to death by the cloud of ash and rock and lava. not mad because the idiot died, but because he refused to let his dogs be evacuated.

these people always act so surprised like it's a complete freak of nature that it happened and somehow nature has conspired against them.

I mean you guys from Cali get quakes all the time and you're prepared for that. mostly. you react like ok it's happened again, let's pick up the pieces and make the best of what's left. which while not good is a reasonable reaction. same with the big bush fires. those are natural disasters that are pretty unpredictable and can be prepared for in part. but rivers always do the same thing and follow the same paths, avalanches are fairly easy to see coming in advance, volcanos give advance warnings yet people just sit there like dumb friggin rabbits in the headlights looking surprised.

grrrrrrrrrrrrr :frus:

We got 5-6 inches of snow the other night and by tomorrow night we could have another 8 inches of snow. And Cappy, on his way west, is gonna be driving right through that shit. I don't envy him one bit.

Last winter was great until January when we got slammed by more snow in a few months than we've had in the past few years combined. Naturally it was the first winter we had our house, meaning I had to shovel that shit.

The next chance I get I'm heading over to my mom's storage and taking her snowblower and getting the fucker fixed. Living in Florida she doesn't need it anymore.

Out here, it rarely snows, despite what you might think. When it does, people go apeshit, then it melts a few days later and people wait for the next storm to do it all again. Recently it was cold as balls, and walking to class was gay as fuck. Thankfully I'm on break now, at least.

I'm jealous you fuckers are getting snow. Hopefully there's still a little bit when I come home in February.

Overnight we got hit with at least 8 inches so far.
And its still snowing.`

By the time I got done shoveling the sidewalk there was another 1/2 inch on the driveway.
