If your lives are so easy that you can worry about making laws against having cages for egg-laying chickens too cramped then you must have everything else quite easy!

It's a fucking chicken! The fucking things must obviously be stupid when you can literally cut off its head and it'll live for almost 2 years. And yes, that's YEARS. Just Google Mike the Headless Chicken. I only approve of it if it gives me a more delicious egg.

Anything in the world can wind up on the ballot here. The number of signatures required is really low compared to the population, and it's easy to get signatures by sending unemployed fat guys to sit in front of Wal-Mart and claim that they'll lower your taxes and protect your kids. No one reads anything they sign here. It's sickening.

By the way, the proposition wasn't to outlaw cages. It was to require the cages be (by 2015) large enough for the chickens to stand up and turn around; it was the same for pigs and veal calves. I'm not some PETA nut, but that sounds reasonable enough to me.
