Tonight's win was the Sabres' first regulation win against the Red Wings since 10/13/09 and their first reg. win in Detroit since 3/6/94.

Now, I know there were several years where the Sabres didn't play the Wings. But, damn. 94?

The Cup is in the building. The last time Sidney played in a game 7 I was calling Cappy before the game feeling like I was going to shit my pants. It turned out to be a close affair, but the Wings ran out of time & couldn't overcome a two goal deficit..... I can't unsee shitty MA Fleury - who's riding the pine tonight, might I add, awkwardly sprawling across & stoning Lidstrom as the clock ran out, lucky bastard. Fuck me.

The NHL is voting on the expansion team to Vegas tonight. Then they are having the awards show that I will probably forget to watch.

The Draft starts Friday. The Sabres are expected to make some trades since they have so many draft picks and a ton of cap room. An of course free agency starts next Friday. Should be an interesting week. When the Sabres hired their current GM a couple years ago, he said it would take few years to make the playoffs. Well, this is the start of that year.

If they could get Laine to play with Eichel, you guy would really have something going. Looking forward the draft & free agency - and to see what LV comes up with for a team name, logo & colour scheme.

I'm going with "Aces", and I'm thinking black & silver with a little red, a la the Atlanta Falcons. Could even have a little fighter jet as a secondary logo.

The owner keeps saying that he likes "Golden Knights". He went to West Point and it is a reference to the Army. Supposedly they want to stay away from gambling references, but there was a Las Vegas Aces minor league team, and they had the Gamblers, Wranglers, Thunder, Outlaws, and Rattlers at one point or another.

Laine is supposed to go #2. Buffalo's GM said he tried to trade up to #3, but Columbus didn't want to do it. Edmonton at #4 is a possibility. If Buffalo stays at #8, the GM said he has his eye on 2 defensemen and one forward. Or, he said he would trade that pick if he could get a young top 4 defenseman.
