Need an opinion
Okay, I'm not giving too many details, so as not to influence your decisions, but I'm looking for input on something that may sound strange but is for a totally serious purpose.
I'm asking everyone, and have an opinion myself, but this is just looking for your input at this point, and nothing binding or anything. The reason I'm asking will be evident at some point within the near future.
Imagine: A new mega-casino has opened on the Las Vegas strip (likely south of Mandalay Bay, where there is still some open area). As with most of the recent mega-casinos, this one is built around a theme--in this case, Japan. Mostly feudal Japan, but some of the nightclubs, shows, etc, have a more modern look to them.
My question for you: Is this casino more likely to be named Edo, the "old" name for Tokyo, or "Shogun," after the title of the de-facto rulers of Japan for several centuries?
Consider not only the meaning, but also the "sound" of the two different names as a tourist destination to rival existing casinos like Luxor, Caesar's Palace, or the MGM Grand.
Like I said, nothing binding, but I would appreciate the input. I would also appreciate it if voting is limited to normal humans, meaning no Grips or Grins, animals, celebrities, superheroes, Transformers, Bizarros, Earth-2 Counterparts, or Flornbis.

98.8% of Americans would not know that, or care.anarky wrote: ...... the "old" name for Tokyo.....
I went with this one, but nobody is gonna know that either. And they will pronounce it "Show Gun" and expect to see a wild west show when they get there.anarky wrote: ......"Shogun," after the title of the de-facto rulers of Japan for several centuries?

Sadly, Shogun
Ninja's would have also been good, but if you could choose ANY name, (and my spelling is gonna be wrong here) Hei An Kyo would be a good one
I think (and Slick might have something more on this) that Edo has ODD .... well, I wanna say "ramifications" with modern Japanese people, but I don't know for sure, and it would be totally lost on most north americans anyways- they'd prolly assuem it was the name of Aibo's companion, or maybe some kind of E-Fido phone promotion
And too bad Atari is taken, that's a fine choice too- or Tokai (means "Expensive" IIRC) has a nice sounds and sweet double meaning, but again, not on the list (we have CHEAP lightershere from Tokai brand, always makes me laugh when they fly apart while still 3/4 full of fluid)

Also for those of you that see shogun and pronounce is "show-gun", YOU'RE WRONG!!!
We went over this stuff in our cultural shit and it's pronounced "show-goon". That's your lesson for the day.

hansololol... now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time....
Well, more like two months
And in a truly inappropriate way, one of the "signature dishes" would be made with water boiled with the antlers of a virile Moose, poured into clay urns containing ginger, spring onions and Shiro miso- the dish would be called "Miso Horni"

It appears there's already a half-assed Asian themed hotel called the Imperial Palace on the Strip. Somehow I've missed it in all the trips I've made there. It appears to be one of the older, shit hotels, and their site indicates there's no real unity of theme aside from the name and the facade of one tower.
Nothing like Luxor or Monte Carlo or even Caesar's Palace or the Excalibur. So no real worries. Anyway, what would another fictional casino hurt?
The Shogun will outshine them all... for the couple of months it's opened before certain events result in it going bankrupt.
