Re: LEGO!
Started assembling the Loop Coaster this weekend. Haha this thing is fucking huge. Started out by assembling the green base which is roughly the size of a small to mid modular. When I was finished, the instructions were like ‘cool, now put that to the side and start assembling the other half of the base…which is twice as big!’
Then, put the two halves together! Usually I put these sets together on my coffee table, so I can watch TV while I’m building, but now I have this 2 1/2 foot long base(thats even longer because the coaster track hangs over the edge in some place another 3-4 inches) and there’s no room for the set + all the unbuilt elements + the instructions.
So I moved it onto the dining room table and continued to build up the lower portions of the sett, adding the support stacks and the lower parts of the coaster track.
Then, last night I got home from work and started working on the tower part. I thought, ‘cool, I can do this part back on the coffee table while I watch TV’. So I started building this long singular shaft made of Lego, and everytime I think its done, I turn the page and it’s like ‘okay, now repeat the steps you just did, and attach that to the shaft you just made’ and then I think it’s done and I turn the page and it’s like ‘okay now repeat the steps you just did, and attach it again!’ and so on and so forth.
Until I have this giant ladder-like assemblage that is as tall as the base is long. Then I glanced back at the finished product on the box. The tower I just built isn’t even the tallest part of the coaster!! Haha holy shit!
While I was building it last night, Both my wife and daughter asked me where exactly I was gonna put this monstrosity when I’m finished. I told them I don’t plan that far ahead….

9023 pieces. 38 minifigs. $1000.
No thank you. Everything looks cramped. Maybe it’s because they recently put out the diorama sets of the trash compactor and the Emperor’s throne room, so seeing smaller, feebler versions just doesn’t do it for me.(Honestly, I’d rather have more diorama sets of the Cell Block, the rope swing, the Tractor beam tower, and the Hangar’s command room)
And I realize its supposed to be displayed facing front, but for a $Grand$, make the back side look Death Star-ish. Bleh.

Re: LEGO!
yeah, i'd seen the leaks of it... wasn't interested then, not interested now. in fact, it's been a long time since i've been interested in any of the SW lego sets. the last SW set i explicitly wanted and got for myself was The Armorer's Mandalorian Forge. since then it's been random stuff i've gotten for xmas/bday.
there's a good image next to the designer of the set in the interview on brickset: https://brickset.com/article/124598/int ... death-star
it's definitely bigger than i thought. still not worth a rack.

Re: LEGO!
Finished the Loop yesterday. Spent the first half of the day, linking over 250 chain links together, followed by a bunch of technic-level gears and counterweights and stuff. The final system allllmost works. The pulley system gets the cars to the top of the ride, where it almost rolls off onto the track by itself. Then it almost doesn’t get stuck on the first loop(50/50 chance) And when it does make it thru the first loop, it gets stuck on the second loop. And after I manually push it back around to the starting point, it catches on the tire that almost propels it back onto the lift system to start all over again.
Here it is in all its glory with the four other recent builds I did for size comparison. Blacktron, a 3in1 Creator Dragon(in anticipation of getting the D&D set sometime in the near future), and the BDP Ominous Isle set.

Re: LEGO!
250 chain links? I thought the tracks for the excavator was bad, and that was only half of that.
I don't get what they were trying to do with the Death Star. It looks like you can only display the one side. Why did it have to be a circle? I would have done something more like the old Kenner Death Star.

Re: LEGO!
I also have the previous train, but I also really dig trains. My Winter Village is incomplete. I got the first two or three sets, then was poor for 4-5 years and missed out on a bunch of them(I’m missing the Post Office, Cottage, Market Place, and Santa’s Workshop). I’ve gotten them regularly since then, but I skipped the Gingerbread Family a couple years ago.vynsane wrote: ↑Thu Sep 11, 2025 10:31 am looking forward to the Gingerbread AT-AT. i'm on the fence about the new Winter Village Holiday Express since i already have the previous train.
I pre-ordered the Black Pearl. Two GWPs included; Jack Sparrow’s compass, and a Sega Genesis Controller. I also got that Micro Space set.

Re: LEGO!
i have everything in the "base" winter village collection (not including some of the GWP sets) except for the Toy Shop 2.0 refit/rerelease and last year's Santa's Post Office. i might get the post office before it retires this year, IDK. i am more of a fan of the "real world" buildings than the "north pole" buildings, although the Elf Club House is a really cute set.

Re: LEGO!
My wife and I were in DiscReplay(she was getting store credit for some game related merchandise) and they had the Robot World Roller Coaster set for $75. Since the soon to be retired set is on Lego.com for $100, not only did I cross a set off my want list, but I saved $25 doing so.
Still have 8 high priced sets on there, and an $80 modular space ship that’s also retiring soon.

Re: LEGO!
I have a bunch of loose elements I’ve acquired over the years(from ebay auctions and what not). Some of the white bricks have sun bleached discoloration on them. I found a remedy online involving soaking them in hydrogen peroxide and leaving them exposed to sunlight for several hours. Gonna see if that works.
I also have a bunch of incomplete Lego Space minifigs that are missing helmets or airtanks or whatever. Gonna make a list of what is needed for the next time I go to that secondhand Lego store across the river.
EDIT. I thought I had more, but I have 3 Blue guys, complete except for helmets, 1 yellow guy, complete except for a helmet, and 1 red guy missing a helmet and an airtank. I also have one extra yellow airtank.
Oh, and Those were just the figures in my box of random elements. Thanks to all my classic space sets, I probably have between 50-100 complete Space minifigs. These will just expand my ranks by five.

Eh. Wasn’t planning on getting him this soon, but they were offering Double VIP points on TF related purchases, so I bought Soundwave today. Another set crossed off my want list.

Re: LEGO!
BDP Series 6 goes on sale tomorrow. I was already planning on getting the Art Factory, but the more I look at it, I think the Gold Mine looks like a fun set to build.
I think I can justify buying two $200+ sets at once because they won’t ship out for another six months. Future me’s problem!

Re: LEGO!
Took almost an hour to pre-order the two sets. It kept adding 2 of each to my cart. When I’d reduce the number back down to one, it would freeze me out and say ‘you’ve nothing in your cart’ and simultaneously give me a notice that said ‘You’ve reached your limit on that item’. Once I got as far as the address comfirmation screen, then it froze again and I had to go back to the beginning.
The Transylvania haunted house set from series 5 should be showing up next month. Y’know, just in time to miss Halloween…
And Series 9 is open for voting. They did away with the random regeneration every time you refresh the thumbnail page.
