How I realized I was over Star Wars completely

movies are cool. here is a place to talk about how cool they are. or maybe how much they suck, sometimes. like that fucking piece of shit 'mac and me'. worst fucking movie ever, a two-hour ad for fucking coca-cola.

Hmm. Didn't really hit the note for me. I don't think he should be able to effect/affect things in the living world, other than by contact with the living.

I'm with JJ.

I also still think ROTS would have been a million times better if they'd just had Qui-Gon show up as a blue ghost right as Obi-Wan excitedly says, "Qui-Gon?" As it is, he looks like he's high on something and there's no concrete reason for him to believe Yoda.

That, and/or a voiceover from Liam Neeson right at the end of the Yoda/Sidious fight where Qui-Gon says something like, "You cannot win, Yoda. Save yourself. For the sake of the galaxy, run."

Well, they're seemingly not going to cut it into ROTS, so I'm super glad they're doing it here. I've been wanting answers to the Force ghost issue since 1999, Sifo-Dyas since 2002, and Order 66 since 2005, so I'm excited that TCW is going to address all of these in the final 13 episodes. March 7 is going to rock my tits off.
Shit. I can't think of a good signature.

i'm not really against him force-levitating stuff but if we see him show up brandishing a force-ghost lightsaber against darth vader or something, then that's a horse of a different color.

Two trailers for Rebels were released today. It actually looks worse than Clone Wars (and y'all know what a raging CW fan I am). Granted, this is probably because the emphasis is on some dickweed kid and this won't be the case in the show, but, yeah, it looks like shit for little kiddies.

Since when are cartoons for kids? What the hell is Disney thinking?

I found one of the trailers. Can't say it sparked any interest.

C'mon, you know what I mean. Cartoons are for kids, but a good cartoon can be equally for adults. I don't mean in the "naughty innuendo" way that Looney Toons or Animaniacs sometimes are, but just intelligent storytelling without pandering. The 2000s version of Thundercats was much better than the original, for instance, since Snarf was a non-character and the Kittens were portrayed as tagalongs. This kid with a blaster-shooting slingshot (WTF?) looks like pandering of the worst sort.

For the record, I knew exactly what you meant. Between Hasbro and animated series, they seem to be focusing more on the kid stuff lately.

I figured you did. But if Grant Morrison's trolling for ideas, he might not get it.

DB, that's exactly what I was thinking.

In any case, I'm glad the kid's still getting work almost thirty years later.

(28 seconds in, you'll see what I mean.)

You said the same stuff about Ahsoka for – well, the show's entire run. She aged, she matured, she went through trials and grew as a character, and I'm assuming that the same will happen here. As is usually the case with TV and movie characters, otherwise Luke would be a whiny farmboy for three films and Breaking Bad would just be about a poor teacher who dies of cancer (to use the most extreme example of character change in recent memory).

Anyway, the thing that bothers me about the Rebels reveals so far is that it's a near-exact copy of the ANH crew, with some traits shared between characters:

*Ezra Bridger - a teenager on a frontier planet with a Biblical name and unknown Force abilities
*Kanan Jarrus - an older Jedi who survived Order 66, went into hiding and now trains the new Jedi; also a gunslinger who refers to the younger hero as "kid"
*Zeb Orrelios - a respected warrior on his home planet who provides the muscle, based directly on McQuarrie Chewbacca concept art
*Sabine - the feisty girl who doesn't play by the rules; also wears customized, colorful Mandalorian armor
*Hera Syndulla - the pilot of a junker ship with initials H.S. (and "Hera Syndulla" sounds like "Harrison"); also the daughter of a revolutionary who fought in the Clone Wars
*C1-10P "Chopper" - the astromech droid with a personality of his own
*Inquisitor - the Empire's Jedi hunter with black armor and a red lightsaber
*Agent Kallus - the human face of the Empire

So you have your basic Luke, Obi-Wan, Leia, Chewbacca, R2-D2, Vader, and Tarkin types, with Han spread between a few of them and Boba thrown in for good measure, not to mention that the Ghost is clearly in the same vein as the Falcon. Remember that these are just the archetypes, and I'll be interested in seeing how they change and reveal their complexities over time, since I still feel the team in place knows how to tell good stories and has a proven track record of interesting character development. But still, it's worth noting and a little strange.
Shit. I can't think of a good signature.

Full trailer for Season 6 of Clone Wars.
Good editing - almost looks kinda good.

A few years ago Topher Grace re-edited the Prequel trilogy in one 85 minute film.
Only a small handful of people have actually seen it.
He just released a trailer for it (here), which sounds awesome, but it just looks like a well made fan-made trailer, as you really don't get a sense of what the re-edited film will be.
A rundown of the film is here.
I'd love to see it someday.
