More new movies at Big Lots. I highly recommend Ice Pirates, especially for $3. Its somewhere between Star Wars, Mad Max, and Flash Gordon. They also had plenty of various Mel Gibson movies, a couple of the Lethal Weapons, one of the Mad Max movies, a 2 pack with Tequila Sunrise & something else.

Went to Big Lots over the weekend. I bought TV Funhouse for $3. They also had Krull. Haven't seen that one in ages and can't remember if I like it. They also had THX 1138, which I have never seen. Is it any good?

Krull deserves a Tron-like remake/sequel with bitchin' 21st Century effects and a better story. It wanted to be an epic Star Wars type fantasy film, but it had a 60's TV Show budget. Its like those other shitty Sci-fi films of the early 80s like Last Starfighter, Enemy Mine, and that crappy Corman flick with Peppard. It is both awful and great. Plus, both Robbie Coltrane and Liam Neeson are in it. But Coltrane is dubbed by someone else for some reason.

THX-1138 is boring as shit. I dare you to stay awake.

Doesn't Robbie Coltrane play a giant cyclops who is slowly crushed to death without showing any emotion or reaction whatsoever?

And doesn't it have a fucking epic death scene of some random guy who's shot by something while on a bridge, and he screams for what seems like five minutes before falling.

That movie was goddamned awefulsome.

That would be Battle Beyond the Stars. We talked about that movie somewhere...probably the thread recommended bad movies to JJL. I'm glad you brought it up. Last time I looked on amazon, they wanted a ton of money for it because it is out of print. I just searched again and saw that it is being re-released on DVD in July. Only $14.99.

Glad I didn't buy THX 1138.

I like THX 1138 a lot. It's long, but it's interesting. If you could find it cheap I'd say buy it, at least just to see it.

For $1.99 each, I got Mission:Impossible 3, and Star Trek Insurrection and Nemesis. The latter two were because I had all the other Trek films in the 2-disc Ltd Ed grey cases and didn't have those two(because they were weak) but I'd hadn't seen Nemesis since it was in theatres. So for two bucks each, I now have all the Trek films.

Grabbed Sex Drive and Piranha for $5 a pop.

The "Unrated" version of Sex Drive has random nudity throughout as part of the joke about unrated cash grabs.
Piranha, an awfulsome movie if there ever was one, has the best two chick (Kelly Brook and porn star Riley Steele) 100% butt naked underwater scene that isn't porn.

The teenage me would be so very proud.

Waitaminnit. Waitaminnit. That statement implies there is or are 100% butt nekked underwater 2 chicks scenes out there that ARE porn. Now, I've seen plenty of "2 chicks sunbathing by the pool decide to experiment" scenes. One slut servicing the other on the edge of the pool. That's a damn cliché. But I've never seen Abyss style completely submerged action.

Big Lots had their $3 movies for $2-something a couple of weeks ago. I got the Wonder Woman cartoon movie. No way in hell was I going to pay $20 for it, but less than $3 sounds okay.

Just got a set of DVDs from Amazon for 'Nark Jr. Muppets Seasons 1-3, The Muppet Movie, and Muppet Treasure Island (which is an odd fifth selection, but that makes it pretty much round out our Muppets collection up through Muppets in Space). $49.99, discounted from $143.99.

I'm thinking of getting the soundtrack to the new movie and stealing Rollo's idea of having Santa one-up Mommy and Daddy.

Muppets Show seasons 4 and 5 are MIA and its pissing me off.
Especially since the new film coming out would be the perfect time to get off the duffers and release them.

They'll probably wait until the movie comes out on DVD.

I've had several online surveys that make it really clear that Disney has no idea how to market the movie. Seriously, just say, "It's the Muppets, and it doesn't suck like some of the more recent Muppet movies." That's it. Blockbuster hit right there.

Anarky Jr is hella excited. They're also doing a thing at a theater in LA through the end of December that costs about $6 more per person than regular local movie tickets, but includes a sing-along with Miss Piggy and Kermit live. That reminds me--I need to get tickets for that.
