That last shot is something the collective minds of the EU botched spectacularly, but I trust Favreau and Filoni to actually pull off. Especially after the ridiculous joke of Maul surviving turned into such an amazing character arc for a guy who barely even qualified as a character before.

And I knew exactly who Olyphant would be playing from the title and the first line of there being a Mandalorian on Tatooine. I was not disappointed. I still cheered like a mother fucked.

And I'm such a dork that seeing a Greater Krayt in live action (and the subtle nod to them eating sarlaacs, and sarlaacs being every fucking where on Tatooine) might have been the high point of the episode for me.

I wish Ming Na Wen had been in that final shot too. Hoping we see her back soon.

do we think it's really Boba Fett in the last scene, or another clone? there are a lot of people in the galaxy with that same face.

i didn't expect the first episode to be 55 minutes long, but i'm happy for it. do we know if they are going to be hour-long episodes in season 2 as opposed to between 30-45 from season 1?

i think one guy having both Boba Fett's armor and a swoop made out of a repurposed engine from Anakin's podracer was a little too much, but i'm willing to let it slide.

as for Ming Na Wen's character, after she was gutshot and left for dead, we see someone's legs step into frame, so potentially she's still alive.

It has to be Fett. All other clones age twice as fast, so they'd mostly be physically about 82. Even the youngest would be about 60.

My guess is it took him a while to track the arnor down, and he's been biding his time, only to see Din go off with it. Now the question is whether he follows.

I think Mulan is definitely dead. She's shot around sunrise, and found when it's dark. If she wasn't killed instantly, she bled out in the hot desert for at least a full day.

Anyhow, I came here to mention a really cool detail about Cobb's speeder. Obviously it's one of Anakin's engines. But it's not yellow, it's orange. Sebulba orange, specifically. These devious bastards stealth canonized the excellent 1999 comic where Qui-Gon sold the pod to Sebulba. If Borat still posted here, he'd say "Very nice."

I think it has to be Boba Fett as well. Whether or not he was tracking his own armor or using it for bait to find the Mandalorian & the Child (he'd still be after them, big bounty & whatnot) we'll have to wait & see.

I’m sorry, you don’t go to the trouble of bringing Temeura back for a story set on Tatooine featuring Fett’s armor and NOT have him be Boba.

If they pulled a “it’s just a random clone” twist, this show would lose all its goodwill with fans. Instantly.

i will go on to say i agree, it's probably Boba, but just wanted to put the subversion of that reveal out there just in case.

if the Kaminoans have the genetic knowledge to introduce a marker to accelerate their growth, someone in the galaxy has the genetic knowledge to remove/turn off that marker. there's ways around that limitation.

per above, if he's been on Tatooine since the end of RotJ, perhaps he's left that life behind him, but showed up because he heard about Din and Cobb teaming up. i'm willing to bet he somewhat "settled down" (sort of like what almost happened for Din in the season 1 episode "Sanctuary") and is no longer a bounty hunter.

I’m impressed the director of Bring It On and Ant-Man could give me the heebie-jeebies like that. And I’m not even arachnophobic like most people.

This side quest was still entertaining.
The spider chase reminded me of the Lost in Space movie.

I didn’t know Starbuck did the voice for the same character on Clone Wars. Nice touch.

I should really go back and finish that series.

Finally watched Solo. I liked it more than the sequel/prequels, but not as much as Rogue One. It felt like it was missing something, but I don't know what.

I don't understand why they didn't just ask Lando to fly them to Kessel in the first place instead of trying to cheat him out of the Falcon.

Characters were good, but the movie was too convenient for my tastes. No sense in leaving any mysteries I guess.

This week's Mando felt like it the story was going backwards, but ended off with some very significant revelations about the role of the child in the Imperial experiments.

Solo was very paint-by-numbers and Ron Howard super stayed within the lines. Wasn’t exactly boring, but it was a “safe” Star Wars film approved by studio execs.

Which is a shame, because Miller/Lord would’ve made a zany fun film.
