Didio is into sheep. Specifically castrated male sheep that technically no longer belong to any gender because they have no sex organs left.

CBR reports it will be someone who's not been introduced in the DCnU yet. So Cyborg's out. A lot of people are speculating Guy Gardner or some guy named Vibe who isn't ringing a bell with me.

So is DC trying to say that homosexuality is genetic?
Both Alan Scott AND his son, Todd(Obsidian) are gay?
Seriously?

Does Obsidian exist anymore?

On the one hand, I think this is cool that they're willing to shake things up.

On the other, I wonder if they're doing more harm to "diversity" in the long run.

Marvel and DC make huge changes to characters, then announce them to the mainstream media (as if more than 1% of MM readers/viewers give a shit anymore). They make a new Ultimate Spider-Man and say he's mixed black and Mexican and the news reports "Spider-Man is now black!" They make a new version of Alan Scott and say he's gay, and the news reports it.

But, though I give "normal" people more credit than most geeks do, most non-comic fans simply don't get the idea of a multiverse, because it doesn't show up too much in fiction outside comics. So they think THE Spider-Man is black and THE Green Lantern is gay. (Don't believe me, read the comments on the stories about either.)

Then the next movie rolls around. Spider-Man is Peter Parker, so he's white. Green Lantern is Hal Jordan, so he's straight. And mainstream audiences think that the changes were quietly reversed because people didn't like the black and gay characters.

This comment in the CBR forums cracked me up.
I just realized their big new gay guy has flaming powers.

My first reaction was, if James Robinson spent 1/10th the amount of effort trying to write good stories as he does figuring out which characters should be gay, he might be worth reading. He's an awful writer and his stories are boring as fuck, so who gives a shit about whether Alan Scott is gay or not?

You write borig shit. Now you write GAY boring shit. Congratulations.

I really loved Leave it to Chance, but the whole "great" Starman thing was lost on me (mind you I haven't read it as a run, I'm still missing issue here and there and only ever dabbled in reading it).

Oh, and my real point - the fact that this is "a big deal" in comics just goes to show how far behind the times comics are. In real life (most thinking) folks don't give a rat's ass who you fuck in your own bedroom or what sex they are. To illustrate it & bring a big bunch of attention to it, as though screaming out "LOOK AT US, WE'RE MODERN ACCEPTING AND PROGRESSIVE!!!" makes you look like you want to APPEAR as such but aren't really.

My shitty 2.5 cents.

they've already retconned todd out of existence because of how young the new version of alan scott is. i don't really understand the true implications, since i'm not sure how much it matters, being on earth 2 and all... does it matter?

Eh. I guess not. Ultimately it comes down to telling good stories. Which James Robinson and DC seem to suck balls at.

And getting back to DCs relaunch in general, I read a couple o' those Teen Titan issues I pulled out of the 50 cent box. The central conflict of one issue was Kid Flash borrowed a sweatshirt out of Robin's closet without asking. I'm serious. That "argument" took up a fourth of the comic. Fuck Scott Lobdell. And fuck Bob Harras for hiring Lobdell. And fuck DC for hiring Harras, who then hired Lobdell, who then wrote about Robin and Kid Flash fighting over clothes.

DCnU can eat a dick.

Oh, I also read an issue of Batman. Apparently Bats has fangs now or turns into a real bat when he's pissed. Or it was just an artistic choice by Capullo. I don't know. Either way; shitty. Night of the Owls sounds jackass stupid.

Artistic choice. Night of the Owls started strong then went to shit.

Team 7: A 1990s Image team that includes Amanda Waller, Dinah Lance, Slade Wilson, and the Grifter.

Dinah Lance sporting a laser rifle just does not float my boat.

Scott Lobdell is taking over the writing chores on Superman.

I'd throw up in my mouth a little, but I've been generally wretching at everything DC does, so it'd end up being dry heaves.

Triple Post! Eat a dick, Grimlock!

Thomas Wayne Jr.

*kaching* That's the sound of me buying some steel toed workbooks.

*scrrff scrff* That's the sound of me tying up the laces on my new workboots. They have steel toes.

*THUMMFsquish* That's the sound of me kicking DC in the nuts and DCs scrotum subsequently popping.

*Whimper* That's the sound of DC on the ground in the fetal position, clutching its ruptured balls.

But seriously, how does Bruce not remember his parents have a baby after he was born? Or how was the birth announcement not in the Gotham Gazzette? Or mentioned in any of the hundred articles about the Wayne murders that Bruce no doubt has memorized. And is Alfred now like the biggest asshole in the history of comics for not mentioning it. EVER?
