Errrr..not really. All that 70's hooey is pre Crisis continuity. I'd still get them for the stories. I've read some and they were killer, but filling in the gaps would just leave you more confused.
I may wait for the softcovers. Will there be softcovers?

Hmmmmmm. Didn't consider that. I still like the art, so Im now torn on what to do.... will they be shit? I read somewhere the Neal Adams was one who put BatMan back in the dark, where he belongs. That would mean to me the shit was gritty - but it was the 60's, no swearing, no crack hos, no beating the piss out of informants.... Hmmmmm. Torn. I've decided that as far as regular issues go, Im leaving my 404 (BatMan year 1 issue 1) will be my jumping on point.

I think Adam's Batman used psychological scare tactics more than any physical beating to freak out the perps. Leaping from the roof and landing in an ominous cape shrouded crouch was enough to scare the beejeesus out of any 60's perp. The stories read very well, the dialogue will date it for sure ( especially Dick's..he was a smooth hepcat.) but it's core Batman. Again I've only read a few stories here and there, so maybe I was lucky and the rest read like crap. But I doubt it.

<br />Don't know how this got sidetracked onto the Bat, sorry. Has Ultimate 6 started yet? The pages I read in the Wizard mag were pretty good - Cap looks psycho standing over Electro.... like he's right ready to fly off the handle (as EP posted he is, pretty much full time in Ultimates).

hasn't started yet... cap basically is always ready to do what it takes to win the battle... everything is a war with him, and he's got back up plans for his back ups. he's always calm, cool, and collected, just willing to get the job done in the most efficient way possible. if that means getting your hands dirty, that's what has to be. it's really awesome...

The new Wizard has an article about the Ultimate FF by BOTH Bendis and Millar and drawn by Adam Kubert. No spaceships or cosmic rays this time. Instead they get biffed during some govt thinktank project. More of an elemental approach to the powers this time, says Millar. I'm assuming that means Reed will have more of a water based power and Sue an air based power to go with John and Ben's fire and earth. As it should have been from the get go in the original FF...

Ahhh..Ultimate Six #1. Spider-Man does not show up AT ALL, so the cover is very misleading. Can I just say how cool it is that Ultimate Cap looks like he's actually wearing a mask whenever they draw him? Regular comic heroes just kind of have that "drawn" look, but when you look at this guy, you actually think "he's wearing a mask..." That is so cool on behalf of the artsy guys on the Ultimate books.

Is it Bryan Hitch on Ultimates? He's the king. You should really check out the Warren Ellis' issues of "Stormwatch" and then "the Authority" (on which he was followed by another great writer) for more of this style superhero team book, also with art by Hitch, Arthur Adams, and others. It's fucking great. The latest issues not so much.

Snagged Ultimate Spidey TPB #7, bringing my Ultimate Spidey collection up to speed. Now i can go back and start working on the Ultimate X-Men trades...
I also caught the Ult FF preview in Wizard. It looks very gnarly. After this and Ult Daredevil hit the stands, there's only one more Ultimate book to go...and it's Top Secret. Any guesses?
