I listened to most of the Weezer songs. Surprisingly good.

They are catchy. Tired of Having Sex is an all time favourite.
I'm listening to (not much change):
Foster the People (Lonely Hearts Club tracks, though I don't have the album yet)
Phoenix (Bankrupt from a few years ago, my daughter reminded of their mind blowing pop on my last trip home)
(Insert "classic rock" 90s alternative band name here)

As I read this line, Godsmack pops up on my playlist. Today also happens to be the 25 year anniversary of Alice in Chains' Jar of Flies album.jjreason wrote: (Insert "classic rock" 90s alternative band name here)

That was my favourite Alice in Chains disc. It's only about 30min long if I recall. Not nearly has heavy as some of their stuff, but really good.

Yeah, 30 minutes, 7 songs.
Jar of Flies was my first AIC album.
I Stay Away and No Excuses are great grunge staples.

Listening to the new Tool album. It is 2019, so you either like Tool, or you don't.
I like it. It is what you would expect them to sound like.

Been a long time coming. Hopefully the special edition cd is worth the hefty-ass price people are paying.

The ghost of Tom Petty jamming with Iron Maiden wouldn't be worth $40 (or more likely $150 since they intentionally underproduced it and it's unavailable) for a single CD.
And why the fuck does a fucking charging cord warrant that markup? Those things go for like a dollar.

I liked the first couple of albums I heard in the 90s well enough but never really kept up with them. I think folks are fans of Maynard and his antics as much as they are any of his bands. Dude is a remarkably intense performer & for whatever reason people are all over it.Diabolical wrote:Its not.

Like I said, you either like Tool or you don't at this point. Their sound hasn't changed much. They are considered progressive rock/metal, which generally isn't for everybody (like Diabolical). See also, Rush and Yes.
I saw an interview with Maynard recently. I had no idea that he was in the Army as a surveyor. He is in 2 other bands besides Tool.

Tool's album actually knocked Taylor Swift out of the #1 spot on Billboard's album sales chart for last week and her fans were kind of pissed.

I thought David Byrne didn't really seem interested in doing Talking Heads stuff. Glad he did it on SNL.

New Tame Impala album "The Slow Rush" on heavy repeat. I really like this band, thanks to my daughter for the recommendation. It's cool when your kids turn into music geeks & bring you their shit.
