For some reason my guy ordered a bunch of the 2000s variant cover so I thought that was the main cover. The “variant”he had was the Steranko cover, which I don’t know which decade it was. I thought the 2000s cover was the main cover, so that’s the one I bought. Didn’t realize it was a variant until I got home and looked at it more closely.

Thor 706 - I guess there's a special in 2 weeks that deals a bit more with Jane Thor so not quite done. This was a nice issue though, pleasantly surprising after what seemed like a foregone conclusion to the story.

Iron Man 599 - sets up an interesting meeting for 600 that I'll look forward to reading.

Moon Girl 30 - finishes off the Fantastic 3 story with Johnny & Ben - light reading but I did enjoy it.

Spider-Man 240 - Bendis pens a heart felt farewell to Miles Morales. Good character, I hope whomever takes over loves him like Bendis did (same feelings I had for Jessica Jones).

Thanos Annual - some fairly well characterized Thanos shorts by a variety of creators. Narrated by everyone's new sweetheart, Cosmic Ghost Punisher so it will be sought after for whatever reason.

I also bought some DCs including the 25cent special but I haven't looked at them yet.

Avengers #1 had the legacy number 691 on it, so that was cool. Abbreviating it to LGY is kinda weird though.
I hope they do it with ALL their books though, or the inconsistency is gonna kill it.
Like Exiles #1 didn’t have anything on it. There’s been like 3 or 4 Exiles ongoings, so it should qualify for ‘Legacy’ status.

Started reading comics last week. Hadn’t really read anything of substance since....jiminy...OCTOBER. HOLY HELL. I read Secret Empire and was so thoroughly unimpressed, I stopped reading books.

So I’m making an effort to start off small and read like 6 books a day. Doesn’t always happen though. Here’s what I’ve read in the last week or so.

Secret Warriors 3-12. This book started amidst the chaos of Secret Empire. Cap tries to have Daisy ‘Quake’ Johnson killed, but she goes into hiding and recruits Inhumans Ms. Marvel, Moon Girl, Inferno, and Karnak to fight in the resistance.
Issues 6 and 7 revolve around Quake tracking down Deadpool for killing Phil Coulson on Cap’s behalf and getting revenge.
The final 4 issues involved Mr. Sinister and Dark Beast using latent NuHumans to try and restart the Terrigen mist and Karnak manipulating everyone into making Moon Girl the new leader of the Inhumans. She declines, and Karnak is spurned by the rest of the Inhuman community. Rightly so.

She-Hulk 159. The first issue of her Legacy renumbering. The Leader shows up. Not enough story to make a decision.

Silver Sable 36. Next issue in her series from 1990. Essentially a oneshot. Eh.

Silver Surfer 12-14. Slott and Allred’s conclusion. I’m not crying. You’re crying. Shut up.

Slapstick 1-6. The mini series no one asked for. Missing a couple issues, but I got the gist. Cartoon characters are invading our world and Slapstick has to stop them. Some funny parodies of He-Man, My Little Pony, GIJoe, and Disney Princesses. Didn’t suck, but not very memorable.

Ben Reilly; The Scarlet Spider. Peter David’s new ongoing starring Peter’s Clone. I initially didn’t start getting this because after The Clone Conspiracy event over in Amazing, I didn’t see how they could redeem this guy. So I didn’t get the first four issues. But then I saw they brought Kaine’s Scarlet Spider character in and I enjoyed his series from a few years ago, as well as his stint with the New Warriors, so I picked up issue 5-7. Then they brought back the Slingers for the following arc. So I’ve been buying the issues(and not reading them) not for the main character, but for the supporting cast.

Issues 5-7. Kaine arrives in Vegas looking for Ben to settle up after The Clone Conspiracy. Ben convinces Kaine he’s trying to make amends and be a hero again by saving the life of a little girl with some macguffin disease. Kaine decides to let him live but is gonna stick around and keep an eye on him. Also, Death shows up and says Ben’s soul is one more death away from being completely fucked for eternity, so he needs to straighten up his moral compass before he dies again or it’s over permanently. No more resurrections.

Issues 8-13. The Slinger’s return! So back in the late 90’s Spidey was wanted for murder, and couldn’t be Spidey. So Peter and MJ made up four different new hero identities for Peter to use in the meantime. Eventually he was cleared of them charges, and Marvel is never one to let a concept go to waste, the four new identities (Hornet, Prodigy, Riccochet, and Dusk) were given to four new characters who formed a super team with their own ongoing that only lasted like 12 issues. After that, they all faded into obscurity. One of them was famously killed by Wolverine when he became a super villain during Mark Millar and JRJr’s Wolverine run, and they might’ve showed up during the post Civil War 50 State Intiative where every state had a team of heroes. But mostly they’ve been not around. So it was fun to see them back inaction.
Issue 14 was a stand alone issue where Ben discovers Mysterio has retired from his life of crime and is living in Vegas. Ben, who’s been give the benefit of the doubt and a second chance, sees fit to do the same for Quentin Beck.
Issue 15-17 were crossover/tie ins with Dr. Strange’s Damnation miniseries. Strange decides to repair Vegas after what happened in Secret Empire using magic. But then Mephisto shows up and Strange forms a new Midnight Sons team. Haven’t read Damnation so not in the loop on the main story line.
Issue 18. The most recent issue, Mysterio’s daughter is a stage magician making a name for herself in Vegas, she teleports an entire Casino to the Dark Dimension where it gets attacked by Mindless Ones.

Next up on the reading list, the last dozen issues or so of Bendis’ Miles Morales Spidey book, and then the last dozen or so of Spidey-Deadpool’s team up book.

I havent been for a couple of weeks due to out of town training. I should have the Superman special, a couple of Batman/Detective issues and the Thor special waiting for me. I'll likely just wait it out & go on Wednesday.

Iron Man 600 - done
Thor Special 1 - done
Superman Special 1 - done
Detective 980, 981
Batman 47

All that's left on my list: Two in One 6 (next week), ASM 800 (next wee) & 801, Detective & Batman until they relaunch or until the wedding if I decide that's enough.

ASM 800 - 80 pages - too many for the current Marvel cover paper. Every copy in the store was split at the top & bottom of the spine. All that being said, this was great big action movie of an issue, and he managed to hit a good few emotional strings while touching on big moments from Parker's past. Dare I say "worth the money" for a $10 comic? It's pretty close.

Doomsday Clock 5 (against my better judgement, just like issues 3 & 4) - almost dreading reading this one.

Marvel Two in One 6 - semi-spoiler - nothing is resolved here. Waste of time & money buying the first six issues.

You know how you know you're leaving new books at the right time? When your tax-in price for 3 comics is $27.99. I wish I was kidding.

Yeah, ASM was $10 and the Transformers Annual was $8 this week. With tax, that’s $20 for 2 fucking issues.

And Saga 52 came out. Still only $2.99. Good on them.

I'm having real trouble not being up to speed on Saga. I'm not sure how long I can hold onto this not buying it thing.

I capitulated and bought the “top secret” bagged J. Scott Campbell cover to X-Men 30 today and sliced it open to reveal....Rogue and Gambit on the cover. Huh??
so I flipped thru the issue...turns out Kitty gets cold feet at the altar. Then in the last five pages, Remy proposes to Rogue and THEY’RE the X couple that gets married at the end. Surprise!! They get their own ongoing series later this summer. Mr and Mrs X.

I’d say spoiler alert, but honestly who gives a rats ass?

They’ve been on and off and on forever. They’d been off for a pretty decent amount of time. At least since AvsX since Rogue joined the Uncanny Avengers “Unity” squad back in 2012. She even “dated” Deadpool for awhile since her power didn’t affect him the same way and he was trying to be good and joined the Avengers.
They had a mini series earlier this year but I didn’t buy any of it.
