Fallout 3

Post by Auxiliary »

I liked oblivion when it came out, just couldn't run it at full detail back then. Now I have my machine upgraded (form what it was at least) and fallout 3 is the new oblivion. The story is great thus far, and the RPG element with FPS works out very well. I kept putting this game off, and finally gave it. Absolutely terrific game so far. Was a big fan of fall out 1 and 2 back in the day.

I played the first one for a while, but I got tired of the turn based thing. I'd like to try 3, but I don't have a PS2 or XBOX and my PC isn't good enough to run it.

I got frustrated with this game and set it on my shelf a few years ago. I finally popped it back in the XBox and started playing it again.
I hate how your weapons are constantly shitty and falling apart and need repairing and do absolutely no damage to anything you're shooting at. Oh, critical shotgun to the face of an enemy? Yeah well, that didn't kill him. You'll still need to shoot him four more times. And dodge his five friends with the heavy lasers. And then kill them too.
And if you're out in the wastelands, watch out for giant hairless bears that come out of nowhere to kill you with one swipe and you can't run from them and you can't shoot them because both of those do fuck all. And if not the bears, the stupid impossible to kill robots. Or maybe the other impossible to kill floating robots that shoot green rays that kill you in three shots. Or the heavily armored Enclave troops roaming around.
The entire game becomes an exercise in moving from point A to point B without coming across a single soul. Because if you die, you'll have to start from the last place you walked outside/inside from, regardless if you walked ten miles across the map and survived. You'll have to to do it all again.

Part 4 is getting some acclaim as the best videogame of all time. I've never even looked at a fallout game.

I didn't bother with New Vegas because of the F3 rage.
Once I get a new system (XB1 or PS4) I'll get F4 when it drops in price.

I picked up Fallout 4 a week or so ago on sale for $35-40 with a gift card.
Not far into it, but its a beautiful game. I keep getting slaughtered easily, so I think i might be missing something.

Nope. You just have to avoid people until you level up sufficiently.
