Great teaser.
Debunks the rumor that it picks up a few years later.
And why was the title such a secret?
The Russo brothers said it was a spoiler...

Not sure what the point is of Hawkeye going all Ronin, then spoiling it in the trailer.
Wasn't the whole point of Ronin kinda "Hey, this new Avenger is awesome! And mysterious. Terribly mysterious--holy shit, it's really Hawkeye"?

Re: MCU Topic
Hawkey wasn’t even the original Ronin.
When he* first showed up, it was heavily implied it was Daredevil, but it turned out to be Echo, the deaf martial artist chick.
Hawkeye picked up the uniform during the post-Secret Invasion stuff when Norman Osborn was in charge of everything.
Later on Blade also used the identity.

Also, nothing Marvel has done has ever been a direct adaptation.
They are using the Ronin identity as they see fit.

Re: MCU Topic
Chux is right though, the original id was kept a mystery. Echo was a cool character. I'll have to google to see why Barton decided to go that route as I have no memory of the surrounding story at all, just that he was in the suit (which was cool enough to cause me to purchase a small ML figure of it at one point).

Re: MCU Topic
I know it won't happen, but I want the stinger of Endgame to parallel the one in the first Avengers.
Some lackey reporting to his superior, sitting in a fancy old chair in a room with stone walls. Elaborate antique tapestries and a few flashing indicator lights on unidentified devices are slightly visible, but the only real light comes from a roaring fireplace. The character in the chair holds a fancy goblet in an armored hand, and wears a dark green, almost black, hooded cloak.
The lackey reports on the latest exploits of these "Avengers." He has a heavy, but unidentifiable, eastern European accent. As he finishes, the figure looks up, and the camera focuses on one eye, mostly obscured by metal armor but what we can see is completely surrounded by hideous scar tissue. The eye squints slightly in an evil glare. The final word of dialogue includes the word "doom."
You'd fucking shit your pants in the theater. Admit it. But it's okay--every other geek would shit at the same time.

Re: MCU Topic
There has been speculation that the continued use of Stark/Avengers tower in the MCU is no accident.
The sale of the building in Spider-Man: Homecoming is believed to be the first step in it becoming the Baxter Building.
Its been established that weird shit happened in the MCU before Iron Man showed up (Captain America, Red Skull, The Winter Soldier, Ant-Man and Wasp, T'Chaka, and now Captain Marvel).
With that in mind, I think Marvel's FF should be a stand alone period piece, taking place completely in the early 1960s, capturing the Kirby aesthetic (I imagine cameos from a young and digital Jack and Stan). The space race, Doom, Mole Man.
FF2: If successful (and it should be), start the sequel in the midst of a battle between the FF and Doom and have all 5 seemingly killed in an explosion, but its no ordinary explosion - because it the FF - they're all flung into the future (2020-something), where not only have they been forgotten, but also have to adjust to our timeline, much like Cap did. Reed and Johnny love modern times, while Sue and Been struggle to adjust. Doom retakes his precious Latveria and builds Doombots.
Sequel post credit tag: The modern temporal explosion awakened an ancient hunger, and a silver emissary arrives.

I just think that there's no way to recapture the "Oh fucking holy shit, Thanos? They're going to use Thanos?" shock of the end of Avengers other than throwing in one of the characters who was licensed to Fox without anyone knowing until that moment.

Re: MCU Topic
I thought it’d be hilarious if Deadpool showed up in the stinger and said “What’d I miss?”
I also thought it’d be boss ifsince there’s a rumor of using the quantum realm as time travel to defeat Thanos, they go back and save Quicksilver and he shows up at a crucial moment in the movie to save the world and then turns and says “What, you didn’t see that coming?” because they managed to keep Aaron Taylor’s involvement super secret until the movie comes out.

Either of those is a Hell Yes!!!
We know for sure (well, as sure as we can since Marvel is known to fake scenes in trailers) that Ant-Man somehow escapes the quantum realm without the involvement of the Avengers (or them even being aware he hadn't been snapped away).

April 20th, 2018. Called it almost a year ago! #humblebrag
Can’t wait to discuss other stuff about the movie, both good and bad, when the rest of you have seent it.

^ ha, nice call.
saw it thursday night. i thought it was great.
the latest iteration of the Marvel Studios intro was heartwarming/breaking, and the last cameo was incredibly inceptionish (although i actually missed the most important detail of that scene).

Re: MCU Topic
I really liked Captain Marvel, but I don't think it was top tier Marvel.
Minor details.
Too much 90s-era ambiguity even though it takes place in 1995.
I admit, I teared up a little bit at Stan's opening logo. Beautifully done, Marvel.
The convenience of...certain elements felt a little forced.

Re: MCU Topic
It's a good movie. The song choices were a little ham-handed, but for people who didn't have that music as a soundtrack for the key moments in their lives like we did, it probably played a little better.
My overall feeling was this: we basically now have MCU superman. There is seemingly no limit to her powers. The fight against Thanos seems much less daunting. I guess I would have preferred seeing the heroes we've grown to know & love figure out some way to beat Thanos without the help of this type of Captain Marvel.... it might have been better if they left a lid on her a little bit & had her figure out how to remove the limitations during Endgame. Not much of a spoiler but just in case.
