I'm beating Newsbot to the punch on this one.
Michael Bay attacked on 'Transformers 4' set in Hong Kong

A man attacked director Michael Bay with an air conditioner on the Hong Kong set of "Transformers: The Age of Extinction" on Thursday.

A statement the studio released described "a bizarre encounter with a man allegedly under the influence of a narcotic substance."

"The man, who had earlier accosted several other crew members, rushed onto the set in Quarry Bay and swung the air conditioning unit directly at Bay's head," the statement said. "The director ducked and wrested the air conditioner from his attacker, preventing what could have been a serious accident. The company's security team quickly stepped in and subdued the assault."

The police arrested the man and two of his companions and the production immediately resumed filming without further incident, according to Paramount.

Several news reports said that the attacker had demanded a large sum of money from Bay. When asked about those accounts, a Paramount spokeswoman replied that she "cannot speak to that at this time.”

Bay, 48, and his the cast and crew had just moved the production to Hong Kong this week after 4-1/2 months of filming in Arizona, Utah, Texas, Michigan, Illinois and Washington.

The science fiction movie, which stars Mark Wahlberg as a troubled inventor and is set for a U.S. release on June 27, is the latest high-profile production to partner a U.S. studio with Chinese financiers, in this case Paramount Pictures and the state-backed China Movie Channel and U.S./Chinese streaming company Jiaflix.

The last "Transformers" movie, "Dark of the Moon," was a hit in China, grossing $165 million there.
Where to start....

Is that the first time an air conditioner has been used as a weapon? An AC unit fell on that "Mista Mista" lady in Happy Gilmore, but that wasn't intentional.

Next:

Code: Select all

"The director ducked and wrested the air conditioner from his attacker, preventing what could have been a serious accident. The company's security team quickly stepped in and subdued the assault."
The guy intentionally swung the AC at Michael Bay, so that wouldn't have been an accident.

I have only seen a few minutes of one of the Transformer movies. I keep forgetting that they have made 3 of them already.

Mark Wahlberg, eh? I've seen Boogie Nights, Perfect Storm, and about 2 minutes of Rock Star. I guess he's popular so this movie will probably make another $400 million.

I remember about ten years ago, when Mark Wahlberg was gold. Everything he was in was great. It was mind-boggling, because everyone knew he was the dumb bastard Marky-Mark from The Funky Bunch, which sucked all kinds of ass. Plus he was the brother of one of those dumb shit New Kids. But he was so amazing!

I don't know what the hell happened to him. He's entirely in shit now. I don't know the last movie I saw that he was in. I'll give him credit for producing Boardwalk Empire, but so does Martin Scorsese, and that just means you give them a shit-ton of money and get your name in the credits.

Come back, good actor Marky Mark. And, please, if you see Adrian Brody in whatever shitpile you're in, bring him with you, because he used to be pretty awesome, too.

On the topic of the attack on Bay, I'm wagering the "narcotic substance" he was under the influence of was called "good taste in movies."

Fuck Adrien Brody. Anybody who willingly works with Polanski seriously drops in stock in my book. And I'm aware that includes A LOT of otherwise talented people.

As much as I hate Roman Polanski, The Pianist was an excellent movie.

I don't agree with his working with the douchebag, but I really can't fault Brody any more than I can fault otherwise excellent actors like John Turturro and John Malkovich for willingly starring in the shit movies that are the topic of this thread.

Ugh. On the one hand it's just more of the same Bayformers bullshit.

But on the other hand, I just saw live action Grimlock in a SuperBowl commercial.

Grimlock should be about the size of that fucking monster's pinky toe. That fucker was huge. The only way to one-up that shit would be introducing Metroplex and Trypticon (who turn into literal cities), then Fortress Maximus and, uh, I guess they'd have to call him Zarak since they blew the fucking Scorponok name on a shit drone in the first movie.

Frankly, I'm bothered that "Swoop" appears to have two heads. Design changes are one thing, but if they're not based on dinosaurs, why call them DINObots.

BAH! Me Grimlock audition to play self in movie, get part, wear silly costume with horns and act out. Then stupid fleshling Michael Bay CG's Optimus Prime riding me Grimlock. NO! This never happen! While it true and indisputable fact that me Grimlock vastly superior to Optimus Prime in strength department, me Grimlock never degrade me Grimlock by acting like horse.

Me Grimlock also not know Sinnertwin get role of Swoop. This may be awkward.

Some things you can look forward to in the new TF movie.

One guy actually produces a card from his wallet with a Texas law that says it's okay to fuck minors in Texas. It's an actual plot point in the film. Statutory abuse is okay. Michael Bay felt this was essential to the plot of the film.

There is literally live action hentai in the film. Tentacle porn attacks Wahlberg's daughter in the film.

If you're a fan of Optimus Prime shooting and killing humans in cold blood, you'll love this film. Love it.

Greg Berger was not hired. That might have made most of the rest of this film forgivable. But sadly...

It's 3 hours of what the fuck. Honestly, at one point I'm pretty sure the producers lost track of what the plot was supposed to be. It had three editors credited and the movie reflects that with its choppy jarring narrative.

I can't even be objective anymore. I loathe and detest this franchise so much now. It's Zero for Four in attempts to deliver live action TF. Bay needs to contract syphilis from one of his underage hookers and die in prison.

Even Tycho from The Other Site was disappointed in this one. I think that speaks volumes in itself.

Holy carp.
There Will be Four More 'Transformers' Sequels

At a Q&A at the annual trade show, Mipcom, Hasbro chief Steven J. Davis confirmed that will indeed be four more Transformers sequels. Davis said that over a three-month period, he and his team (which includes writer Akiva Goldsman who won an Academy Award for A Beautiful Man) plotted out “the next 10 years of the Transformers franchise,” Variety reports.

Transformers 5 is the next film in line and will be followed by Transformers 6, 7, and 8. Paramount has already confirmed that the franchise would be expanding with sequels and spinoffs, with Goldsman spearheading the writers room. Other writers who have worked on or will be working on the Hasbro films include Ken Nolan (of Black Hawk Down), Robert Kirkman (the creator of Walking Dead), Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (of Iron Man), Jeff Pinkner (of Amazing Spider-Man 2), and Steven DeKnight (of Daredevil).

A director for Transformers 5 has not been chosen yet and Michael Bay has already tweeted that “it’s not official” that he’ll be directing this film, like he did the one before it. “I have not committed to any idea as of yet,” he wrote.

The could probably quit while they're behind. But I suppose they always make money - NOT like the Terminator ><
