I got the set back then, and didn't realize the individual ones had the OG versions.
Well, Laserdisc versions, which are close, but still not quite what originally showed in theaters (at least not for ANH, not sure of the others).
Also Laserdiscs are so outdated, I typed it wrong and my phone didn't have it in its dictionary to autocorrect.

Re: How I realized I was over Star Wars completely
I've had 2 really good Star Wars experiences in the last few days. On Saturday night I saw ESB in the theatre for the first time since 97 or 98, and I today I saw this for the first time (yes I'm late to the party, sue me):

I have no idea what the purpose of those shorts is (aside to prove someone at Disney doesn't get SW if they think kids need cartoons to introduce them to the movies), but they are freaking gorgeous.

Re: How I realized I was over Star Wars completely
As you know, I enjoyed 2/3 of the newest trilogy, but something had bugged me for a while and I couldn't quite put my finger on it.
Until today.
The deaths of Han, Luke, and Leia.
Our heroes were all sacrificed for the next generation when they all deserved a happy ending. Han was murdered, Luke died a pathetic, broken shell of himself (or also murdered by that half-wit Rian Johnson), and Leia died sad and alone.
I understand Han dying, because it was (obviously) the only way Harrison Ford would return. Leia could have been written out with a happy ending (especially after Carrie Fisher's death), and Luke should have his triumphant return to greatness, as I could see Mark Hamill continuing as the Luke he envisioned later.
Alas, it was not meant to be.
Just a few thoughts on the issue.

I'm drifting more & more away from the sequel trilogy every day. Ready to once again say the story ends after the battle of endor.

The Force Awakens is a lot kf fun with good, new characters and potential future plot lines.
The Last Jedi is a dumpster fire that throws away everything that TFA set up.
The Rise of Skywalker is as good as it could be after TLJ and doing damage control that was essentially a band aid on a gaping wound.

This. The sequel trilogy is unnecessary. It was a mistake to play “telephone” with the screenplays and directors handing each episode off to a different creative team. ONE storyteller’s vision is why the original trilogy has stood the test of time.jjreason wrote:I'm drifting more & more away from the sequel trilogy every day. Re: How I realized I was over Star Wars completely
are you sure you're not talking about the prequels? because those were the only ones that had "one storyteller's vision" across all three. yes, Lucas is undoubtedly a visionary worldbuilder, but he lacks the finesse and polish when it comes to ironing out the finer details, and he needed outside influence to really push the quality to new heights with the OT sequels. he neither directed nor solely wrote the screenplays for ESB and RotJ (he's credited as 'story by' on ESB and secondary 'screenplay by' on RotJ). Lawrence Kasdan is a HUGE reason that both were such a success, being the primary screenplay writer. he didn't have that in the prequels, taking on primary writing and sole directing credits, and the pacing, stilted dialog, and sometimes wooden performances are a result of that.Tom Foolery wrote:It was a mistake to play “telephone” with the screenplays and directors handing each episode off to a different creative team. I also think Gary Kurtz deserves more credit - much more "gravitas" in ANH & ESB - you can see the silliness really start to leak out in ROJ once "Mr Yes George" himself, Rick McCallum starts producing.

ah, good point. i actually didn't know that McCallum was involved as far back as RotJ... thought he only came along once the prequels were ramping up.

I thought space Jaws was a little silly, but no more so than the Jawas & egg yolk last season. It was fun. I love Timothy Olyphant's one character that he plays & it was nice to see that character with a new name in the Star Wars universe. The ending was badass, unless I'm assuming the wrong thing. I hope I'm not.

I'm sure it is exactly what you thought at the end.
It was indeed a great, fun episode.
Lots of fun callbacks without being in your face about it like TFA did.
I just how they're building to an overall arc this season rather than the weekly, thinly connected adventures.
