Lucasfilm most be snooping here now. They confirmed that it was Nines that Finn faced off against.
Thank God.

Re: Still Spoiler Free! ( For the most part...)
I saw it on Kodi. The quality wasn't the best, but it got the point across. I tried watching it a couple weeks ago, but between the bad quality and my wife and kid bothering me, I missed a bunch of it. Anyway, I thought it was ok. I don't think I like it as much as most of you, but didn't hate it as much as Jargo.
How much of the First Order got of the planet before it turned into a star? Kylo Ren is a bigger bitch than Anakin was, but actually made sense.
Rey's flashback with the lightsaber got kind of blurry, but the part with Luke and R2 was definitely not on Endor at Vader's funeral.
The last time I saw Carrie Fisher was on the Comedy Central Roseanne Barr Roast. She looked fine then, what the hell happened to her? She looked less realistic than Ackbar.
And most importantly, are spoilers still necessary at this point?

I think the last bit is "yes", pretty sure Mabs hasn't seen it yet.
Leia looked horrifying. It was distracting. I had the same question about the First Order. I guess wait & see.

i mean, in the original star wars, the implication is that the entire Empire except for Vader died in the destruction of the Death Star which obviously isn't the case given the sequels. i see no reason to suspect that the entire First Order died on Starkiller Base. obviously Hux and Kylo Ren made it, and Snoke is somewhere else entirely.

Re: Still Spoiler Free! ( For the most part...)
Didn't ANH end the way it did because Lucas wasn't sure if he was going to get the sequels?
Snoke being somewhere else did show that the First Order was larger what we saw. I couldn't tell how bad Kylo Ren was hurt and I didn't see him get off the planet.
The super weapon firing scene bothered me because it made the planets look too close together. Sucking the mass of a star into a planet in 15 minutes also seemed silly. Sorry, I just can't silence my inner science nerd. I can buy into seeing other planets explode if they are in the same system. If Mars, or Venus I'm sure it would be visible from Earth.

Re: Still Spoiler Free! ( For the most part...)
The Empire was completely established at that point in ANH & had control or at least some influence over pretty much the entire known space - the First Order is basically stuck in the outer rim someplace in TFA. I'm sure they have lots left, too, but nowhere near what the Empire would have unless I'm misunderstanding something.vynsane wrote:i mean, in the original star wars, the implication is that the entire Empire except for Vader died in the destruction of the Death Star which obviously isn't the case given the sequels. i see no reason to suspect that the entire First Order died on Starkiller Base. obviously Hux and Kylo Ren made it, and Snoke is somewhere else entirely.

Are they in the outer rim? In that cantina scene, Finn was going to go to the outer rim to get away from the First Order.

In the book it's described that they have a segment to themselves out there in "the unknown regions", where the republic's influence is toward the center obviously. There is a buffer zone of neutral space between the 2 spheres of influence.

Did Phasma's story line basically parallel Boba Fett in ROTJ? I wonder if Dengar saved her from the Trash Compactor.

*Doongar. We all know how reliable trash compactors are for killing folks, so don't be surprised when she reappears in all her PIMP MY ARMOURED glory.

Oh, and here's a link to the alignment of the galaxy page from the TFA visual dictionary.

The map also shows that the Starkiller base, the planet-sized headquarters of the First Order, is located in an unknown region.
Idiots. THE UNKNOWN REGIONS. It's a specific area of the galaxy and has been called that forever.

So that's where The Ultimate Warrior (and many other pro wrestlers) came from. Interesting.

Do they just throw a dart at a galaxy background and say 'that's where [Planet X] will be'?
"No Tom Foolery today, Ron. I'm tired of looking at your dreadful, speckled mug."

Re: Still Spoiler Free! ( For the most part...)
help me out, i don't know where to buy the blu-ray of TFA and don't have the patience or energy to figure out what version i should get and where to get it. i know target and best buy both have "specialer editions" than other retailers, but how more specialer they are and whether one specialer edition is more specialer than the other edition is what i need to know.
also, where is it cheapest? it looks like it's about $20 everywhere, except for the "specialer editions" that are about $25.
