Still Spoiler Free! ( For the most part...)

movies are cool. here is a place to talk about how cool they are. or maybe how much they suck, sometimes. like that fucking piece of shit 'mac and me'. worst fucking movie ever, a two-hour ad for fucking coca-cola.

Folks in Canada are cranky that the Target US version will provide a code for some otherwise unavailable downloadable content - that would likely sway me if I was down there.

I think Best Buy is just a shitty steelbook.
Also, Target has coupons, depending if you buy more than the movie.

okay, so the best buy one is just different packaging? no additional features or anything?

i see that Target has a 'spend $50 save $10/spend $100 save $25, but the items included are limited and don't include LEGO or Disney Infinity.

looks like i'll just pop into Target on tuesday during lunch and pick it up.

I still don't have the saga on bluray, and it never goes on a decent sale, so that $25 off may come in handy.

Target is $25. Preorder had been $23, but, opposite of how they normally do it, the price went up for release week. They have bonus material. That's all I need to know.

The key word is "content," not "bonus disc."
Probably a digital download.

Still better than a steelbook.

I believe it IS downloadable content, which means it will make Youtube almost immediately - but yes, much better than a steelbook.

i'm now going to try to hit Target before work and download and watch the digital edition on my tablet while working.

i'm kind of waiting it out until they do an "original cut + SE" blu-ray set. what is the 'actual' MSRP on the current saga BR set? i'm seeing it advertised everywhere for about $90 - is that a fake sale or an actual discount? and what is the difference between the 2015 six-movie set and the two 2013 "prequel" and "original" sets that i see most places for $35 apiece?

The saga set is 9 Blu-Ray discs with a ton of special features. Regular price is about $100, but I've never seen it on sale for less than $90.
The PT and OT sets are Blu-Ray/DVD combo packs with very limited special features (maybe just commentaries).

I used the $25 off coupon today and got the big set. I added a tshirt to push it over $100, so I basically got the set for $65.

I think the 6-movie set went down to $70 at Best Buy once. I got Target to match whatever they had it for and got an additional 5% off.

Amazon had an outrageous deal on the set when it first came out - I wasn't going to buy it at all, but I got it for $75 including tax or shipping which was closer to half than full price at the time, at least up here.

I ended up paying something like $80 total for both the set and tshirt.

Also, Walmart does have an exclusive - a BB8 cover (probably a cardboard slipcase)! WOW, a clear winner!

I went to Walmart because that was the easy choice. They had TWO different Bluray/DVD/HD Download sets available at the same price:

1 - "Only at WM" BB8 outer slip (which I always recycle anyhow, so no use to me) which contained some collectidisk or something.

2 - plan black packaged version with a bonus disc containing deleted scenes. Clear winner for me.

The deleted scenes are very short, but some are interesting - it's more like "pieces of deleted scenes" to be honest. The John Williams short was interesting.

the "plain black packaged version" is, i think the 'standard' BR/DVD/DL version. all the other special features are the same between the specialty packaged versions, save for Target which has the additional digital content (and a fold-out digipac style package). the packaging doesn't mean shit to us, as we put the movies in sleeves in these lucite boxes we have for our collection, so steelbook and BB-8 slipcase editions wouldn't be worth it, since it's literally the exact same content as the standard version.

the additional digital content was added to our Disney Movies Anywhere account when i redeemed the digital edition. which i then proceeded to download and watch at work. it took twice as long to download as comparable movies i literally just downloaded at work yesterday, so i guess the servers were already being taxed that early in the day.

Yep, I saw the plain black version at 2 other retailers today. I would have recycled the BB8 part so that's no big deal - what is the collectidisk thingy? That's all I missed out on.
