The death of the Expanded Universe
Star Wars EU: 1977-2009
It's official. Here's the obit: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Deathtroopers
It's been on its last legs for a few years now, but this looks like rock bottom here. I can't even think of anything more to say. Just rock bottom. Nice to see it finally put out of its misery (though I'm sure it will lead a zombie existence for years to come).

Looks FAR superior to everything post-Jedi.

Re: The death of the Expanded Universe
Why can't SW cross over into other genres? It's a one-off book that's supposed to be fun.
Shit. I can't think of a good signature.

I just read an EU story about the Cruise Missile Trooper which makes me believe that the EU is alive and well.

Re: The death of the Expanded Universe
You've been reading that, too? That is the AWESOMEST!!!!
JJL, what bugs me is not that it's a genre-crossover, but that it's a genre-crossover into something that's been popular with fanboys but is dying slowly, meaning that Star Wars is officially chasing trends instead of setting them, and barely catching them as it is. Plus, with the Galaxies crossover, it tells me that they'll make a big deal about it being canon even as they downplay Galaxy of Fear, which is the same exact thing.

Re: The death of the Expanded Universe
If an entire series of books, or comics, or a TV show were based on this, then yeah, I'd agree with you. But to me, again, it just looks like an inconsequential one-off. I don't think it "means" anything.
Shit. I can't think of a good signature.

A book and an expansion to a roleplaying game? Might not come up again, but not exactly a one-off.

Oh please, nobody pays attention to roleplaying games.

You've never been to Comic-Con. Believe me, the people there are batshit insane over roleplaying.

Hmm. The only thing I've seen is the little supplement that came with the Geonosis Arena playset all those years ago. It was weird and complicated. Fuck that, back to the action figures.
Shit. I can't think of a good signature.

http://forums.sirstevesguide.com/showpost.SW Zombies? Wow, talk about jumping on the bandwagon. That deserves special recognition for its lemmingesque cliff-walk-offing. Holy crap is that going to be lame, it'll fit great with Teras Kasi.

I thumbed through this at B&N. Han Solo plays a prominent enough role that he happened to be on every page I saw.

Re: The death of the Expanded Universe
The guys on the Forcecast said it was really good . . . that's the only review I've heard, but they seem to know what they're talking about, and tend not to like a lot of the EU. Who knows.
Shit. I can't think of a good signature.
