Pretty sweet legacy though, people will read the first appearance of Wolverine until the end of time. RIP, Herb.

I am irritated that some news outlets are reporting him as Wolverine's co-creator.

Not to diminish his body of work, but he did plenty without crediting him with someone else's accomplishments. Drawing Hulk 181 (and about a billion other issues, plus really co-creating a lot of Hulk's supporting cast) is plenty.

And he'll always hold a place in the hearts of Joe fans as the only man other than Hama to write the Marvel series and not suck at it.

Veteran Marvel artist Paul Ryan passed away at age 66.
He was most famous for a five year run on Fantastic Four in the early 90s.

RIP Paul.

Darwyn Cooke is gone at age 53. That totally sucks. I hate cancer.

If you've never read his New Frontier series, track it down immediately.

RIP Darwyn.

Bernie Wrightson, after a battle with brain cancer. Not only was he a famed comic artist (Swamp Thing, Spider-Man: Hooky graphic novel), but he also did the illustrative work for Stephen King's Cycle of the Werewolf.

He did interior art for many of King's novels. I remember his illustrations from my dog eared copy of The Stand.

RIP Bernie.

It's not like he just died, but today would've been The King's 100th birthday.

In this crowd, I don't need to use his name. His title will suffice.

And I don't mean Elvis.

The ripple effect that man has had on modern pop culture is staggering.
Not just what he created, but everyone he has inspired to create as well.

Think about that and let it soak in for a minute.

Happy Birthday, indeed.
