Another dealer show, I got 372 books for $120. My phone wasn't fully charged and it died about 3/4ths of the way thru the day, so I was "guessing" on more books than I was comfortable with. I found some books I was missing, but I got more doubles than I usually do. Here's what I got.

Some good nuggets in that batch. I remember humming and hawing about all those Alan Moore ABC titles. I decided to hedge my bets and only bought Top 10 at the time - I've still never ready any of it. I imagine I'll track it down in trade format some day.

Top 10 is fantastic. I highly recommend it.

I only added the ABC stuff to my master list recently. I kept seeing issues here and there on my voyages and decided to research exactly what that imprint had produced and then put everything on my list. Sadly, I'm so far behind on reading any of it, I don't when I'll ever get around to it.

I'm glad I found almost a complete run, because every issue's cover was an homage to a different comic series with varying logos and what not. Had I not picked them all up almost at once, trying to find each issue independently would be 20x harder. Now I'm only five issues away.

Went to an actual small convention yesterday with cosplayers and events and such. Not just the usual dealer show I usually hit up. Between 7 different booths, I got around 212 books and spent about $130. Most guys were charging $1 per book so my average cost-per-book was hire than normal. Here's what I got.

First Table

DCU Presents Superman: Secret Identity 2. DC started doing this thing a few years ago, releasing $8-10 thick reprints of earlier stories. They aren't t quite trades, but they're bigger than normal issues.
Fables 58. Man, filling this series in is slow going.
Elektra:Assassin 3-6. Over half the '86 mini series. Just need 2, 7, and 8.
Fallen Angel 1, 22, 23. From the IDW series. Between the different hails I made today, I'm only 8 issues away from finishing the run.
Fantastic Four 234, 238. I'm like a dozen issues away from having an uninterrupted run from 200 on up.

Superman 271. An old issue of Supes that jumped out at me for some reason. There were a bunch of old Superman and Action books, but I was compelled to throw this one on my pile. When I got home, I looked at the indicia. It was the Jan 1974 issue of Superman. The month and year I was born. Kewl.

Nu52 Firestorm 11.
Watchmen 2-12. Despite having a modest amount of water damage, making the pages stiff and crinkly, it's still pretty cool to have almost the entire original series. I've only ever read the TPB and never experienced the book the original way. The odds of finding an entire run in good condition for cheap is astronomical and obviously I'll keep my eyes peeled, but until then I'm quite pleased with this find. If anyone has any tips or suggestions to make the pages more pliable, I'm listening.

Second table I found two SW tie in books and finished the X-Men 92 series and the Ultron vs Zombies series. Also illuminati 3, which I failed to mark down last time and realized I have because it's on a list in a post above when I scrolled down or post this. Ugh. He also had a decent run of old PowerMan/Iron Fist books that I kinda regret not jumping on. Oh well, maybe next time.

Third table I got What If 39 where Thor fights Conan and Dazzler 6. I'm only 3 issues away from finishing Dazzler.

So, the intent was to go to my backup store and pick up a few issues that slipped by me, like Squirrel Girl and Uncanny X-Men, etc and I like to throw him business sometimes because he's a nice guy. But on a whim, I was like 'I haven't been to Tim's Corner in awhile, I wonder what he's up to' and drove across the river. It just so happened completely by coincidence, Tim was having a 3 for $1 sale and I walked out of his store with over 150 books, and a few recent books because even the new stuff was 1/2 price.
I eventually made it to the other place, but by then I only wanted/needed 3 or 4 books.

Lastly the new books I found to fill the gaps in the most recent series were ANAD Avengers 6, Sam Wilson 8 and 9, Squirrel Girl 8, All New Wolverine 7, and Uncanny X-Men 8.

So, yay. A fortuitous impulse detour today.

Instead of going to the annual garage sale, my GF and I are in St Louis for the weekend. I've taken the opportunity to hit up several comic shops. I stopped by 2 yesterday and got 36 books at one and 60 at the other. I'm gonna hit one more today and try for a fourth tomorrow on the way out of town.
I've already finished off five or six runs. I'll post my haul when I get back home.

Today was a big zero. First shop was closed on Monday even though their website said open 11-5. The second was also closed, so didn't even bother. The third and fourth didn't have any back issue selection to speak of. I ended up getting the Bone Coda and a Team Mystic shirt for my daughter, just to have bought something. But I did go up in the St Louis Arch, so that was fun. So the majority of my haul came on that first day. Here's what I got.

Of the several shops I went into, if you're ever in St Louis, I recommend the Fantasy Store at their main location in Maplewood(?). No less than 3 very enthusiastic employees helped us and chatted about books.

Tiny score today. Went to a shop across the river to buy some drawer boxes. They didn't have any. So I figured while I was there I'd pick up a couple books I missed Wednesday like Black Panther and Inhumans. Except they don't take credit cards for purchases under $15. Ha, says I and put the books back. (Except I didn't, I left em on the counter and walked out. Didn't even have my damn drawer boxes, hooligans).
But while I was over the border I decided to swing by Tim's and picked up 56 books from his 50 cent boxes. Sadly, he doesn't sell drawer boxes. Here's what I got.

Despite now being close to two months behind on my reading(seriously. What is up with that?) I decided to go to the first dealer show of the new year and came home with 417 books stuffed into one long box. Bags and boards take up a lot of fucking room and the lack thereof on this trip made it an even more efficient trip. The box was close to full, so I went back and stuffed a bunch of Dark Horse Star Wars books in, figuring I'd get an extra 20-30 issues in there to make it full. Ended up getting almost an extra hundred issues packed in there. Yay me! Here's what I got.

And, I need that fucking impossible to find issue 8 with Wolverine from the 1999 relaunch, 2 of the Red Hulk issues, issue 8 from the Duggan run, and the previously mentioned issue 6, and I will have a complete run of Hulk from issue 208 onwards. So you can see why I'm reluctant to drop the Totally Awesome series.

Finished four more series and which reduces the number of issues I need to 2 for a COMPLETE Set Of Secret Wars tie ins. I need Zombies 2 and SpiderVerse 3. Oh, and that stupid Armor Wars 1/2 issue they gave away at TRU. So, 3 issues.

If you remove Amazing from the equation(because finding the early issues of that series for cheap is fiscally impossible) I'm about 65-70 books away from having EVERY Spider-Man comic. I'm missing about 16 issues of early Spectacular, and 16 issues of Spider-Man Classics, which I'm kinda waiting to find all at once so I haven't really been looking too hard. But that leaves roughly 30-35 issues of everything else. Damn.
