Why don't they just put this up on their site, or something wacky like that?

They may have.
But I went there once long ago and found it un-navigable. So I never went back.
Plus it's fun to figure it out.

How did we get to Punisher 218--

Uhhh...apparently by ignoring about half the Punisher ongoings over the last twenty years.

Punisher(1987) 104 issues.
Punisher(1995) 18 issues.
Punisher(2000) 12 issues.
Punisher(2001) 37 isssues.
Punisher(2004) 75 issues(The MAX series)
Punisher(2009) 16 issues. (Or 21 if you count "Franken-Castle")
PunisherMAX(2010) 22 issues.
Punisher(2011) 16 issues.
Punisher(2014) 20 issues.
Punisher(2016) 13 and counting.

And that's not counting the various War Journal and War Zone series over the years. Or about a hundred miniseries and oneshots.

We are well past 218 at this point.

How did we get to Moon Knight 188--

The first Moon Knight series from 1980 ran 38 issues.
Moon Knight:Fist of Konshu went 6 issues (44)
Marc Spector:Moon Knight went 60 issues (104)
The 2006 series went 30 issues (134)
Vengeance of the Moon Knight lasted 10 issues (144)
Bendis' 2012 series went 12 issues (156)
The 2014 series went 17 issues (173)
The most recent series just ended with 14 issues (187)

The first issue of the next series will be 188.

PunisherMAX was out of 616 continuity, so those probably don't count. Still at 236/241.

Re:Punisher. Yeah, I have no idea.

How did we get to Deadpool 287--

Well the final issue of the previous series was the 250th issue of Deadpool. That was really issue 45.
So adding the current run will get you to 287. So the real question is how did they get to 250.
That 250th issue probably had one of those montage things in the back with all 250 issues in it, but it's in another building right now. So I can't look it up.

Deadpool:Circle Chase 1-4
Deadpool v2 1-4 (8)
Deadpool 1st ongoing 1-69 (77)
Agent X 1-12 (89)
Cable & Deadpool 1-50 (139)
Daniel Way's awful 2009 series 1-63 (202)
Duggan' first 2014 series 1-45 (247)

That leaves three issues. The -1? The 0? The 900? The 1000? Choose 3 of the 4.

How did we get to Iron Fist 73--

The 1975 series 1-15
The 1996 mini 1-2 (17)
The 1998 mini 1-3 (20)
The 2004 mini 1-6 (26)
Immortal Iron Fist 1-27 (53)
Iron Fist The Living Weapon 1-12 (65)
The current series.

One of the few Legacy series that had to rely on miniseries to pump up its numbers.

How did we get to Avengers 672 --

I pulled this from the CBR forums because, like Punisher, I didn't know which Avengers books to ignore. Like, there've been multiple New Avengers titles, but apparently only one of them counts?

1963-1996: #1-402
1996-1997: #1-13 (#403-415)
1998-2004: #1-84 (#416-499)
2004: #500-503
'NEW AVENGERS' 2005-2010: #1-64 (#504-567)
2010-2013: #1-34 (#568-601)
2013-2015: #1-44 (#602-645)
'ALL-NEW, ALL-DIFFERENT AVENGERS' 2016: #1-15 (#646-660)
2017: #1-11 (#661-671)

Tom Foolery wrote:How did we get to Thor 700--

The original series(which started as Journey into Mystery and was retitled Thor with issue 126) went to issue 502. Then Onslaught/Heroes Reborn happened. The title then returned to being Journey into Mystery and went for a few more issues, but those don't count as Thor. So= 502

The Heroes Reborn series from 1998 lasted 85 issues until Disassembled. Then Thor went on a 3 year hiatus. 85.(587)

JMS and Coipel relaunched Thor in 2007. It went 12 issues, then reverted to Legacy numbering with 600 and went to issue 621. The series then reverted yet again to JiM and went to issue 655, but again those numbers don't count for Thor. But you should still read them because that was Gillen's Kid Loki series which was beyond excellent. 621.

The Mighty Thor by Fraction and Coipel kicked off in 2011 and ran concurrently with the reverted JIM title above. 22 issues(643)

Thor God of Thunder kicked off Jason Aaron's run on the series in 2012. It lasted 25 issues (668)

Jane Foster became Thor in 2014's Thor and that lasted 8 issue before the Secret Wars relaunch. 8 issues(676)

And the current Mighty Thor series is on issue 20 and will be at 24 by the time the Legacy kicks in yet again. 700.
This is fucked up - why do the first 125 issues count as Thor when he wasn't even a concept for those??? And Spidey counted Renew Your Vows, but THORS from the Secret Wars era isn't included. Got it.

I think the idea is to go back to the original numbering as if there hadnt been twenty-some relaunches.
Thor inherited JiM's numbering when he was starring in the book starting with issue 87 and they retitled it with issue 126.

I agree the 5 issues of Renew Your Vows is bullshit, just because Slott was writing it. Or any miniseries.
I'll allow the stream of Venom minis only because that was basically an ongoing series in the late 90s that was getting a new first issue every three or four months. But it(they) were coming out on a monthly basis.

Yeah I misspoke in my post - I knew he first appeared in JIM 83 or 86, whatever it was. If they want to really win the renumbering call the fucking book Journey into Mystery.

Marvel is creating a couple original heroes created by Asian artists and releasing their series over in Asia before releasing them in the States.
That is mildly interesting. Kudos to them for trying for some kind of diversity and expanding into the Chinese market or whatever.
Lot of haters online saying it's a gimmick headline grabber or whatever, but I'll wait and read the books before judging.
I think it's better they are tapping that area for the creators and not just having Bendis write "ChineseMan!" or something.

I think Spencer created a Chinese super team in Avengers World a few years ago, as well as a Chinese version of SHIELD, and neither of them get as much spotlight as they should.

DC's newest Superman is a Chinese fella operating in his motherland. I believe the concept is he has all the strength of their billions of citizens, which isn't too bad as far as interesting goes. Great minds are thinking alike/tards are seldom differing.

For what they're worth. Straight from the House of Few ideas. I particularly enjoy how Incredible Hulk 1-6 weren't included in the Hulk numbering, yet TTA 1-58 somehow make the cut. The ONLY 616 appearance in the first 58 issues were Hank Pym "pre-Ant-man" stories.

Power Man & Iron Fist doesn't count for both? Seems legit.
