iTunes vs Media Player

computers are cool - they are the reason you are here right now! Hopefully, JJReason can build one and prove once and for all, Canadians are somewhat intelligent.

iTunes vs Media Player

Post by anarky »

Okay, what are your thoughts on which works better to manage a music library? I've used both. iTunes is a bit on the slow side, but something I'm noticing is that it seems to be really quite difficult to split tracks when ripping in Media Player. Is it even possible without ripping and then burning? It's pretty simple in iTunes. I can't find anything about Media Player, and it looks like you essentially have to waste a CD.

Also, any idea how Apple Lossless and WMA Lossless compare when it comes to file size? I guess I could rip something in both formats, but I'm lazy. :)

I'm leaning that way. I realized I probably don't want to go fully lossless after all--I'd be talking a few terabytes, more than my external drive holds. I'll have to fill in some holes, I guess; I wasn't importing all the tracks, just what I wanted on my iPod.
