firefly

most tv sucks these days, but there are some shining examples of good writing, acting, camera work, etc... we call those Deadwood and Arrested Development. Family Guy sucks ass, though...

The first one is deftly researched. That was the one I was going to post a link to.

it may be the most deftly researched, but it's the most horribly designed. that tiled background is making my eyes bleed and sense of aesthetics cry.

'twixt is a contraction of "betwixt", an adverb or preposition to mean "between two things", so she meant she hadn't had anything between her nethers that didn't run on batteries, though the reconfiguration into a verb per above has me thinking of a new sex act that involves the chocolatey, caramelly and cookie... y goodness of Twix... and, wouldn't you know, there are two in a package!

The idea is fun, the execution, just so-so.

Three Firefly facts you may not be aware of:
1. The young Simon Tam was played by Zac Effron.
2. Han Solo in Carbonite appears in (possibly) every episode.
3. The armor the Alliance troops wear is from Starship Troopers.

1. I was aware of and didn't care.
3. I had read somewhere and then forgot about.

2. I was not aware. What an excellent excuse to rewatch the series*

If you google it and see the screencaps, you'll repeatedly think, "How the hell did I miss that one?"

There's an awesome sketch of the crew done Bruce Timm-style on this week's The Line It Is Drawn.

I saw that and was gonna post it here. Ya beat me.
I love that Wash is holding one of his dinosaur toys.
Inara is black? Huh? Oh well, I'd watch the fuck out of an animated Firefly series done in the Timm style. I hear he's looking for work...

I figured Inara as being part Asian. I know the whole culture is sorta a mix of present-day Chinese and American, but something about her seemed a bit more Asian than just that.

Just saw the 10th Anniversary thingy on Science Channel. (It's funny that SyFy doesn't show scifi, and scifi is on the supposed documentary channel, but I digress.) Pretty good. Some of the insights into what would've happened were cool. I couldn't help but notice Ron Glass was nowhere to be seen, even in separate interviews like they did with some of the cast members. And that Science clearly doesn't have any rights to show Serenity or any parts of it, even in a show about it. (I actually think more about what went into Serenity and less about how happy everyone was that it got made would've been cool. I've always wondered why they made Mal such a hardass toward Simon, particularly in the beginning, when it seems to contradict a few episodes of the show.)

Seriously, though, the dude just made one of the fucking biggest movies of all time. Someone resurrect his show.

whedon is awesome because he is following up Avengers with the wide release of his rendition of 'much ado about nothing' that was secretly filmed at his house in october 2011 and debuted at the toronto film festival in 2012. BALLS.

What would be frickin' awesome would be if they actually are working to resurrect Firefly, and are somehow able to keep this a secret in the year 2013, until they spring onto the world that it will be airing in something like a month.

hrm... i find the reasoning dubious. firefly could easily fit the bill for "the audience of the show grew larger than the original broadcast audience because people came to discover it years after it was cancelled."

add in "From the director of 'The Avengers'" to the promos and they'd be printing their own money in no time.
