Football

most tv sucks these days, but there are some shining examples of good writing, acting, camera work, etc... we call those Deadwood and Arrested Development. Family Guy sucks ass, though...

The bears winning the division is like stepping forward by having everyone else take a step back. At least there'll be a playoff game.

The same Bears team that had Cutler for a decade?
And the Vikes are sitting on a .500 season right now, basically.

Stafford sucks because he doesn’t have anything to work with. They traded away Tate, and Marvin Jones is on IR. And a perpetually porous O-line.

Stafford's always been a bum.
A few years ago, he had one of the top defenses in the league, with receivers Golden Tate and Calvin Johnson, and he still couldn't hack it.

The Bear fan I mentioned adopted a baby boy around the same time Jay Cutler signed a big extension with Chicago. I bought him a Bears bib and attached a note saying "This bib is for when you have to explain Jay Cutler's contract". He is realistic about the Bears.

The lack of a run game probably was a factor as well. From what I read, Kerryon Johnson is supposed to be the best RB the Lions have had since Barry Sanders. Unfortunately, he ended up on IR. The other part about Stafford is that a lot of his stats come from garbage time at the end of the games.

After making inquiries, The Bills smartly passed on Antonio Brown. I don’t care how good he is, and I can’t stand the Steelers, but that guy is a fucking assclown.

The Detroit Patriots..err..I mean Lions are getting DE Trey Flowers from the Pats and Danny Amendola after his one season pitstop in Miami last year.
Also signed CB Justin Coleman from the Seahawks(and originally the Pats). Him and Slay should be a formidable combo.

It’d be pretty sweet if they picked up Iowa’s Noah Fant in the Draft.

Mike Tomlin has ruined the Steelers and cost them both Antonio Brown and Leveon Bell. I'm glad the Bills didn't get Brown. Since the new coach and GM were hired, they keep talking about "the process" and buying into the team. Brown doesn't fit that mold. The Bills were supposedly after Flowers, too.

Former Bills QB EJ Manuel retired today. His contributions to professional football cannot be overstated.

He may have been the NFL's first hard count specialist. The guy never should have been selected in the 1st round.

Meanwhile, Geno Smith is trying to be a backup QB in Seattle. That draft class sucked for QBs.

Andrew Luck just retired. Colts fans boo'ed him as he walked off the field.

That was sad to see. I'm sure they had their hopes up for this season, and the timing is very weird. If he had let them know before the draft it would have changed their strategy entirely I'm sure.

Now admittedly, I don’t know much about “behind closed doors” stuff, but it seems to me the Bills should’ve held onto McCoy into the season and used him as trade bait to get some future Draft Picks when someone else’s RB inevitably goes down during the season and that team starts scrambling for a reliable Back. Even if his production has dropped off since his prime years, he’s not totally garbage, Right? I dunno, was his salary too much?

It did seem like an odd move, but barely noticeable against the inexplicable trading of Jadeveon Clowney to Seattle by the Texans. Does not compute.

No one would have wanted McCoy with the contract he had which was something like $9M. By cutting him they saved $6.4M in cap space.

There was some guy on the radio last week talking about the Zeke Elliott and Melvin Gordon hold outs. He thought the Zeke deserves the money, but the wouldn't pay RBs if he was a GM. Other than New England, most winning teams don't spend a ton of money or draft capital on running backs. Teams can get a cheap RB in the 3rd round and pay him practically nothing.

There had been rumors for the past week or two that the Texans were going to trade Clowney. At one point, some reporters thought the Bills might be one of the teams trying to get him.
